I travelled to London, England in July and August of 1998.  I was still in Peace Corps and took my vacation to the U.K.  Partly to see a bit of England, but primarily to see my girlfriend at the time, whom I had met and spent approximately 8 months with in Africa.
While in England, we travelled throughout a good portion of southern England. i.e. Liverpool, Oxford, The Isle of Wight, The Wirral, and a few other names of places, of which currently escape me.
London really impressed me.  The history and architecture was amazing.  Buildings and monuments that have stood for hundreds of years.  Many still as sound and impressive as when they were built.
While in Liverpool, I had the chance to see the Cavern Club, where The Beatles had made their humble beginings.  And, believe it or not, three of the four weeks I spent in England were filled with sunshine!
