JOSEPH FIELDING SMITH
Salt Lake City Cemetery, UT
Tenth President of the Church, President Heber J. Grant called him "the best posted man on the scriptures of the General Authorities of the Church that we have." He published more books and articles than any other man who became President of the Church, though it was never his main intent to become an author, in his sixty-two year ministry as an apostle and prophet, Joseph Fielding  preached on almost every facet of the gospel.
Presidnt Smith was once quoted as saying, "I feel a closeness to my father, and my grandfather, and my granduncle the Prophet Joseph himself." When Joseph Fielding died he was having dinner with his daughter and son in law, Elder Bruce R. McConkie. Brother McConkie related that the Prophet had requested something to drink, when they returned from the kitchen they found the Prophet slumped in his chair. "It was the closest thing to translation I have ever seen, he was so peaceful." Many of the Quorum came to the McConkie home to give comfort, Harold B. Lee told them both that the Savior was the one who came to take him, there was no pain or struggle, his spirit simpley left his body.
