Jedediah joined the Church at seventeen years of age, in Broome County, New York; the same county where the Melchizedek Priesthood was restored.
He participated in Zions Camp, and was called to preside over the Church in Philadelphia. He was also the man to carry the news of the martyrdom to Brigham Young, Heber C. Kimball, and Orson Hyde.
Member of the First Council of Sevety, Captain of one-hundred in the trek west, where he lost his wife and one child, first mayor of Salt Lake City, one of the greatest misionaries the Church has ever seen, and Apostle.
