This list is composed of only the most reputable of sources. The biogrphy of Harold B. Lee by Brent Goats has been specially reprinted for the 2002 Teachings of our Prophets Series. Most here are rare and out of print, and sometimes there is a peculiar history to the book itself, for instance:
In The Life of Heber C. Kimball, the Kimball family hired a man to write the biography but did nothing and then took off with their money. Orson F. Whitney took over as Apostle and direct descendant. While working nights at the State Prison - Solomon Kimball ( grandson helping Whitney to write ) was visited by Heber to expound on confusing records of his life�s work. Heber told him he was given this privilage for his righteous determination in setting the records straight. For twenty minutes Heber unfolded his life until two inmates interupted the session � Heber could not be in the presence of evil men.
In the biography Spencer W. Kimball, the prophet requested in his will that his children would write a suitable record of his life.
On the biography of Orson Hyde, Calvin R. Stephens (faculty member, Jerusalem Center for Near Eastern Studies), wrote, "Myrtle Hyde�after twenty years of research. . .has produced a comprehensive biography on . . .one of the great men in our time. . .helping the reader to more fully understand the history of the Mormon Church. . . .Through the biography we see Orson as a mortal man who at times struggled, but more importantly we see him as a mighty apostle helping to move the Kingdom of God forward."
