BARBARA HILL

Barbara Hill serves as Latin Program Coordinator for the Department of Classics at the University of Colorado at Boulder and as Program Coordinator for the Modified Foreign Language Program at the same institution. As Latin Program Coordinator, she is responsible for teaching Latin classes at various levels and coordinating teams of graduate students instructors. As Program Coordinator of the Modified Foreign Language Program, she counsels students referred by learning disabilities specialists, foreign language instructors, and college advisors, and if deemed appropriate, places students with severe problems learning foreign languages in self-contained classes modified to fit their needs. She also assists program instructors to monitor and support students enrolled in modified classes in Spanish, Italian and Latin. Hill is an expert in strategies and materials appropriate for teaching Latin and other foreign languages to students with learning difficulties. She is the author of two articles on that topic and has participated in over 50 presentations and workshops for such organizations as the International Dyslexia Society, AHEAD, ACTFL, ACL, CAMWS, and the NLU-ICC Latin Pedagogy Workshop.
