Quo Modo Cogito Ergo Sum: De Discendi Natura

How I think is who I am: about the nature of learning

All students can learn, but they all use different methods; some are sequential learners, some random; some see the forest and others only the individual trees; some are aural learners and others visual.  Based on my book, De Discendi Natura, I will cover the various types of learning styles and how teachers can tailor the lesson, whether grammar, culture or reading, to help a student achieve success.

                                Over the course of the workshop, participants will:

·        learn about and discuss the various ways students learn

·        understand how they learn and how that colors their teaching style

·        learn how to incorporate the various styles into different settings;

        examples will be given for relative pronouns in each style, as well

      as other items we teach

·        learn about different delivery options for information, depending on students' styles: PowerPoint, charts, games, outlines, movies, songs, etc

·        discuss testing strategies: how different learners need different types of tests, but how teachers can accomodate most of them very easily

·        discuss what they do now and how it has helped their students
