| Splitting image, I said. He looked up at me and smiled. Sup mom? I have question. What is it. He paused the game and looked at me. Do you remember Jules, Neil, Troy, Mikel..those people? Yeah, when I was younger. Thats when you were in a gang. Whats up mom? Im not sure baby. I got a letter from Ricky, our arch rival and he wants me to see him. I have a bad feeling, so I need you to stay here and take care of the fort, okay? Why? If something is up, I want to help. I smiled and he walked over to me. Baby, Im not sure you can help. He nodded his head and sat on my lap. I leaned my head against his and glanced up at Nick. He shook his head and sat down on the couch. He picked up the control and started playing. Roberto saw him and ran over to him. I laughed and got up to go back. I grabbed another box and pulled out all my lose clothes and all my baggy pants. Why wear something like that? I asked myself. Cause you can still scare him, you have to be able to. I put them in my suitcase as well as a skirt and blouse. I finished packing and laid down in bed. I closed my eyes, letting sleep claim me. I got off the plane and glanced around. I felt the gun on my hip. I walked over to a phone and called up a taxi. No need for that. I turned around and saw Troy there. I blinked a couple of times and smiled. He smiled back and pulled me in a huge hug. Ive missed you girl. Wow, nice welcoming. Whats up? Its a long story. Come on, we gotta leave. Since youve left, a lot has changed. I frowned and shook my head. We headed out to his car and got in. He turned his speakers down and drove us to his house. He helped me out and into his house. Just one bag? I wasnt planning on staying long. Well, okay. So, how have you been? Good. Look, lets cut the small talk, why did Ricky write me? He has Jules. I stared at him and just lost all train of thought. How did he get Jules? He came into our home one night and kidnap her. The police? We cant. Gangs around here have gotten bad. And if we were to go to the police, they wouldnt give a shit. I rolled my eyes and shook my head. Okay. I havent been in the gang for three years, why is he after me? He didnt know that. In fact, until your picture came out, no one knew where you were. And thats when the truth came out. So, when he found out Jules was the leader, well, what other good way to get a gang down then taking their leader? I sighed and sat down on the couch. So? He wants your ass. Meaning. He wants you dead. I gasped and stared at him. I shook my head and got up. Im not going to die for his no good ass. Just cause hes stupid and thought whatever he did, doesnt mean Im going along with it. Theresa, this is our gang. Jules is your fuckin cousin, you wouldnt die for her. Hold up, back this shit up. Im not in this gang anymore. Remember? And Jules is my cousin, I love her, but if she let her guard down, theres nothing I can do for her. When shit started heating up for all of us, we knew our guard was going to have to stay up, and we did it. So, I take it after I left, everything went to shit. Not that bad. Things were rough. Jules had a different way. I nodded my head and walked into the kitchen. I grabbed a beer and leaned against the counter. When do I have to talk to Ricky? Tonight. Okay. Where? You know where. Yeah, I remember. That night has haunted me forever. Fine, just one more question. You said Ricky took her from our house, whos? Mine and Jules. Were together. So, thats why you picked me up. He nodded his head and smiled. I leaned against the wall. I felt the gun, held if for safety. I hadnt shot since the last time I had a dealing with Rickys gang. I touched my necklace and that gave me strength. I shook my head. I wasnt the same person, how could I handle this! I was a married woman with two kids at home. A wonderful job, something that would lead me somewhere. I was getting ready to leave when I saw him. I narrowed my eyes and stared at him. Damn, I didnt think you could come, Tere. Well, I did. So, what do you want? Meaning? In order to get Jules back. Oh, that? Well, for the longest time, your little gang was a thorn in my side. And you left! It was still that fuckin thorn. So, I had to get rid of it. So, I took Jules. But, just to be on the safe side, I have to get rid of you too. Why? I dont roll with the gang anymore. You surely still wear the same clothes. Thats cause thats me. Doesnt mean I gotta act like a bad ass. I dont think you ever acted. You were straight up bitch. So why fuck with me? Cause that was then. This is now. Things have changed. I shook my head and took the safety off my gun. I pulled it out of my pocket and narrowed my eyes once again. Im only going to tell you this once. You fucked with the wrong bitch. You let Jules go or youre fucked. Now, Im almost certain shes here, so just release her, or your gang wont have a leader. What the hell does that mean? I pulled my gun on him and watch his eyes open wide. Let her go Ricky, or you die. I heard Jules cry and was thrown at my feet. Without taking my eyes off Ricky, I helped her up. I shoved her behind me and was shocked that my hand wasnt shaking. I heard a gun cock and then heard a couple of guns being cocked. I knew the gangs had clashed and saw Ricky pull his out. He cocked his and trailed it on me. I took a deep breath and somewhere to my left, I heard a gun go off. Then, every gun was going off. Ricky just stared at me and I stared back. He smirked and fired his. I fired mine. I felt the bullet hit my arm but not before I saw him go down. I gulped in air and started shaking. I closed my eyes and fall to the ground. I felt someone lift me up and take me to a car. |
