| �Resa?� I jumped as I heard the voice. I smiled at Howie. �Hi you.� �Hi. I see you finally brought Megan and Alex together?� �Yeah. If I know them half as well as I do, they�ll be just fine and hitting it off in no time.� �Well, I�m glad to hear someone will be happy around here.� I glanced up at him and just gave him an odd look. �What do you mean Howard?� �Nothing,� he mumbled. �Howie?� a female voice called out to him. I turned around and noticed a pretty blonde was looking at Howie. �Hi Tiffany. I want you to met a good friend of mine, this is Theresa, one of the best writers in all of the US.� I smiled at him and shook Tiffany�s hand. She smiled, but I knew right off, it was fake. Of course, I was talking to her man. I smiled to myself. �Come on Howie, the party is inside, not outside.� She dragged him and he threw a look to me. He quickly mouthed �I�m sorry�. I just smiled and turned back around. �So, tell me about yourself Megan. Theresa only tells me so much. Though, I�ve seen tons of pictures, but I think you�re more beautiful in person.� �Thanks Alex. Actually, there�s not much to tell.� �I don�t believe that for a moment.� He smiled and she couldn�t help but smile back. �She never mentioned how you two met.� �Oh, actually, we met online. It was a fast forming friendship and before we knew it, we became best friends, telling each other secrets that no one else really knew.� �I can believe that�d be trippy.� �It was. I still remember like the first emails we started sending to each other. I met some of her friends and she met mine. I flew her to Missouri a few times and she flew me to Arizona.� �I�m very glad she knew you.� �I�m glad she knew you too. Though, she never mentioned she knew you.� �No, we know she hadn�t mentioned anything. It was a big surprise. I told her I wanted a party and for her to come and to bring you. I had to force her to disown a story.� �So she complained, I believe it was Jessica Simpson?� �Yeah, it was. But I couldn�t wait to met the famous Megan.� �Famous?� �We all know about her friends, Shannon, Ladd, Rhoney, but you, you�re the most she ever talks about. We all felt like we knew you already.� Megan smiled and couldn�t help but laugh. �You know, you have a wonderful smile.� She blushed a little and heard �I Turn To You� come on through the speakers. �Would you like to dance?� AJ asked, holding out her hand. She smiled and accepted it. He drew her in his arms, and she leaned her head on his shoulders. She sighed, just loving this feeling, breathing in the scent of his cologne. I sighed as I leaned against the door frame, watching Megan and AJ. �Don�t look so sad. He�ll come around.� I smiled to myself. �What in the world are you talking about Kevin,� I said, not even turning around. �Howie.� I slowly turned around and looked at him. �Howie? What about Howie?� �Theresa, we all know you like, no I take that back, love him.� �You don�t know shit Kevin.� He smiled and shook his head. �That�s what you want us to believe. But we know, we have eyes, and we�re not dumb.� I shook my head and rolled my eyes. �Whatever you think Richardson.� He laughed and dropped his arm around my shoulders. �It�s not what we think, it�s what we know. He�ll see one day that he lost it for you. He�s done over now. He�s just not trying to admit it.� I looked up at him. He kissed my cheek and walked away. I glanced back at Megan, noticing they were talking over by the wall. I sighed and fell in a chair, wishing I hadn�t skipped the interview to come to this party. I would have taken Megan, but that was it. Three hours later, Megan walked up to me. �Hey you, are you ready to go home?� she asked me. I could do nothing but shake me head. I was tired and just totally lost in my own thought. I stood up and we walked out to my car. �Now, I know you two aren�t leaving without giving me a hug.� I turned around and saw AJ leaning against his door. Megan smiled and walked up and gave him a hug. I turned back around and started walking back to my car. I nearly jumped when I felt a pair of arms grab me. �What�s wrong?� I heard the voice. �Nothing,� I mumbled. �Bull shit Resa. Tell me.� I turned around and stared into AJ�s eyes. �I�ll tell you later. I have to think about it now. Later Alex.� I gave him a quick hug and climbed into my car before he could utter another word. The drive home was in complete silence. �So, did you have fun?� I asked Megan. �Mmm,� was her only answer. I could only laugh at the far off expression she had in her eyes. �He�s so wonderful Resa.� �He�s one of a kind, I�ll give him that much girl.� �That he is, that he truly is.� I pulled into the drive and watched as Megan climbed out, floating on cloud nine. Come February, I was still at the song. I was on my computer working on that song with AJ, hearing the chorus going through my mind. I picked the beat up and played the drums a little more loudly. I shook my head, thinking of what some words would go with it. AJ and I really hadn�t touched the song much, but I�ve been thinkin� about it nonstop. I heard the doorbell ring and heard Megan race down the stairs to answer it. �Hey Alex.� �Hi babe.� He picked her up in his arms and gave her a light kiss on the cheek. �Are you ready?� �Yeah. So, it�s you, me, Howie and Tiffany?� �Yeah, just to the dinner and the movie.� �Sounds good to me.� Megan ran back upstairs and grabbed her coat. �I�ll be back later Resa.� �Mm hmm,� I mumbled. |
