Parents, I grumbled. I slammed my phone down and thought about how it was now 2002 and I was living in Florida, by myself! This was not how it was supposed to be. I was supposed to have my best friend here, my Megan. But, her mother said Wait, wait until youre 18. So, here I was in Nov on Megans 17 birthday alone in my house. Yes, my house. Its mine, paid for, and everything else is paid by me. I write, and I like to think Im very good at it. I write anything you can think of. Stories, poem, songs, news articles. Ive done it all. And thanks to saving up some money, I could afford my own home. And being in my business, I also got to met some really awesome people. Such as Mark Andrews, better known as Sisqo. I had a special interview with him and than I helped him write a song. And then I knew Pink. She came to my office one day when I was writing a song. Well, actually her car broke down right in front of my office and she asked to use my phone. But I was working on this song and she overheard it and liked it. So, she has a few songs from me. I knew a few other people from just interviews. I laughed to myself. I also knew the Backstreet Boys. That was the surprise I had for Megan. Oh well, theres always next Nov, I told myself. I smiled as I walked over to my sheet music, turned on my computer and started playing words in my head. I leaned back in my office chair, still thinking about the words I had written down almost three months ago. I could faintly think of a tune. But the words, the words just keep running over and over in my mind. I nearly jumped out of my chair when I heard a knock on my door. Sorry, are you busy Resa? I glanced up and into a pair of brown eyes that just glowed with unlaughed laughter. Nah, Im just thinkin of some things. Have a seat Alex. I pointed to the chair in front of my desk and he sat down in it. So, what brings you by? Havent seen you or the other guys in ages. Yeah well, busy lives ya know. The album and all that stuff. I just nodded my head. My phone started ringing right than. Pardon me Alex. Hello, I answered into the phone. Hey girl, sorry to bother you at work, I heard a voice speak into the phone. I quickly smiled as I knew the voice. Oh, youre not bothering me Megan. I watched as AJs ears sorta perked up as I mentioned Megan. Okay, okay, so I mentioned a few things about her. I had her pictures up in my office and at my house and Alex had been to my house once, when we worked on a song. So, he often told me she was pretty and that he wanted to met her, but I couldnt bring her yet, not when she was moving in July of 2003. Though, no one knew that but me and her mother. I hadnt told Megan yet! So, what can I do for you? Im bored. So you called me at work? Yeah. I knew you wouldnt really be doing anything, right? Actually, yeah, I have an article due in two days. But its already done right? I laughed to myself. Megan was one of my best friends, of course she would really know me. Yeah, I finished a few days ago. So, what do you want to talk about? Something Ive been thinking of. Are you sure Ill get to met Alex? I smiled a wicked smile into the phone and looked up to see AJ lookin at me. Of course. I made a promise and of course Ill keep it. Hes the one person you want to meet. Just let me get things arranged. I know, I know. Well, Im going to let you get back to your busy job. Hey, it is busy. Ill talk to you later girl. I hung up my phone and smiled at AJ. Im sorry about that. What can I do for you? Ive been thinking of a song, and I need your help. Me? I asked in disbelief. Yeah, youre so talented, I need your insight. Fine, be at my place, say, hmm, seven, okay? Sounds good to me. He smiled, got up and walked out of my office. I pinned my hair back and changed the beat on my computer. I had made it a tad bit faster and still AJ shook his head. Slow it down. I grabbed the mouse and slowed it down some. There, I like that. I saved the file, still unknown name. Okay, what else? I dont know. I glanced at the time and noticed it was already going on like ten. Alex, Im sorry to cut this short, but I have to get ready for bed. I have an early appointment tomorrow. Oh, I didnt even realize the time. Im sorry to keep you up. Its okay. Just stop by when you want to work on this, kay? It might be a while cause we have the promotions and stuff coming up to do. By the way, when is Megan supposed to come down? Well, Im getting her in July. Or more like Im flying her down, why do you ask? Im just curious to met her. She seems rather nice and all. She is. But yeah, in July you can met her. He smiled, gave me a quick hug and walked out the door. I groaned as I saw that her flight was delayed. Great, just fuckin great, I thought to myself. I sat down in the chair and decided on waiting for the plane to get in. An hour later, I heard my cell phone ringing. Hello, I mumbled. Grumpy arent we? Howie asked me over the phone. Actually, believe it or not babe, I am. Megans flight is late, like really bad and I have to stay here until she comes. Would you like some company? Yeah, but she just cant see ya. Of course. Thanks D. No problem, what else are friends for. Right. I sighed and hung up my phone. Okay, okay, so Megan liked Alex and granted, I did like Howie. But me and him were just friends. We had chilled with each other a few times. But it took us a while for us to even be friends. When I first met him, he was just getting over a long term relationship so he was a big dickhead, and I was a total bitch. But now, things have worked themselves out. I sighed and leaned my head back against the seat, thinking that I had been in Orlando already for a year. It really hadnt seemed like it was that long. I felt someone start playing with hair and I totally freaked. |
