I looked around the place, noting the pictures.
Why are we here?
Cause were doing a double date.
With whom?
AJ and his woman.
Oh.  I laughed, not even knowing my little brother was seeing anyone.
Hey D, whats up man?  What lucky woman did you con to go out with you tonight?
Hey AJ.
Theresa?
Thats me!  I quickly got out of my seat and gave him a hug.
Why are you down here?
Um, business.  Just hit town a while ago.
Really?
Of course.
Than you must think Im stupid.  Howie told us you were in town. I looked over at Howie and he shrugged his shoulders.
Im sorry AJ.
Whatever girl.  Met Tanya.
Hi Tanya, its a pleasure.
I know.  She smiled and than glanced at Howie.  She shook his hand and sat down on the other side of AJ.
What do you do for a living Tanya? I asked.
Oh, I model.
Good living.
Oh yes, and if the Boys ever go under, I can support your brother.  I tried not to smile.
Im sure you can. How are you AJ?
Doing good like always.  What happened with David?
Davie choose another woman to mess around with.  I frowned as I heard Tanya snort.
Who?
A teenage girl back in high school.  I watched as AJ just about choked on his wine.
Are you for real?
Of course.
What a dumb ass.  Sides, you know you can do better, like D over here.
Oh yes, the king of the little men.
Bitch!
You know it D.  If you guys will excuse me, I need to use the restroom.  Would you like to go Tanya?
Of course.  I got up and walked into the restroom.  I leaded against the counter, waiting for her.  What?
You know, Im very protective of AJ.  And for being someone with such class, youre so fuckin dumb.  Tanya, youre no model.  Youre trying to be one, but with your past, its hard.
What past?
The fact that youre 30 and have done time.
And how would you know?
Senior Editor and owner of ICE magazine.  So, let me tell you this now, you stay away from AJ.  I really dont want to hurt that pretty face.  I smiled at her and walked back to the table.  I flipped my hair back and took a sip of my wine.
Wheres Tanya?
Leaving, if shes smart.
What the fuck did you do Theresa?
Nothing.
God damn it.  Do you know how hard it is to meet nice people, people who just dont want to use you?  And than you fuckin blow it.  God, I wish my mother never had you.  Just.enjoy your stay and dont talk to me.  He got out of his chair and stormed out of the place.
Theresa?
What Howard?
You okay?
Do you know what Tanya did?
A model?
No, she tried to get in the field.  Shes a 30 year old convict.  Who, broke out of jail.
What was she in for?
Abuse.  She would hit her husband.  She got locked up because she cut off his dick and than killed him, simply because he was looking at another woman.
Oh Lord.  AJ really knows how to pick them.
Thats why she had an attitude.  I sighed and closed my eyes.
Wanna go?
Might as well, the night is shot anyways.

Two days later, I laid on the couch, recalling my past with AJ.  Things were difficult for me and him.  We were always looking out for one another.  Maybe getting in each others way too much.  I sighed, missing my brother.  I heard the phone ringing and quickly grabbed it.
Oh, fuck is D there?
No Alex, he isnt.  We need to talk.
No, we fuckin dont.  I told you to stay away.  You know, ever since I can remember, you have been trying to mess up my life.  When this group started, you told me not to join.  Look where we are now Theresa.
I know AJ.
Ive lost so many girlfriends, thanks to you.
Im sorry.  You dont know half these girls AJ.
No, you dont know them Theresa.
Alex, youre talking to senior editor of ICE magazine.  I think I know plenty.
The only way you got the position is because you dropped to your knees.  And the only way the President of the Bank listened to you was because I paid him too.
What did you just tell me?
You know, you look out for me, I think you need to look at for yourself.  At least Im not a slut.  I stared at the phone, not hearing him, or not believing.
Alexander
Never mind.  I was going to say something before I heard a click and a dial tone.  I sat there, stunned.  I saw, through the tears, my keys on the table.  I raced out of the house and out to my car, jumping in, going wherever I could.
