| �Jada won�t mind?� �Nah, she likes you.� I laughed and danced. He placed his arms around my waist and dipped me down, still in tune with the beat. He pulled me back and we got closer. I smirked up at him and shook my ass right in front of him. He twirled me around and dipped me once again. He picked me up and spun me around. I smiled and we went back to shaking our hips together. I ran my hands down my body and he shook his head. I laughed as I saw his mouth move with the words. I turned around him, and finally stopped right in front of him and bent down. He raised an eyebrow and I stood back and locked eyes with Howie. He shook his head and I rolled my eyes. I turned back around and saw Shannon there. �What?� I asked, stopping all together. �We gotta go.� I gazed at her and frowned. �Something came up.� I nodded my head, bid Will goodbye and we left the club. �What happened?� �We just need to head home.� �Damn it Shannon.� �Something happened to Meschelle,� Megan said. �What?� �Some tried to break into the house and she was there,� she answered. I groaned and covered my eyes. �Is she okay?� �For the most part, just quite shaken up.� I nodded my head. I sat out on the back porch with my notebook, gazing out at the ocean. Three days ago, me and Howie had our fight. Lord only knew what it was about. The following day he called and said he couldn�t live like this. He tried making it work and failed. So, he said it was over. Now, I have a lot on my mind and some good song ideas. I let a tear slip down my cheek and put my pen to the paper. I wrote down the chorus, knowing once I had that, the rest of the song would be easy to come by. �It starts in anger/ Always ends in hate/ The door often slams/ Things always break..� I read it out loud and smiled. �Yeah, that sounds like us a lot of the times�. �Theresa, phone call,� Shannon said, handing me the cordless. �Hello?� �Hayden? How did you get this number?� �Through a friend. Listen, you okay?� �I�m fine. Now, why did you call?� �Hadn�t talked to you in a while, thought I would drop a line. Is that so wrong?� �Of course not.� I laid my book and pen down and dried my eyes. �You in town?� �Well, for now, but I�m leaving tomorrow.� �Oh, I�m sorry. If I wasn�t busy here, I would have gotten a hold of you sooner. What�s going on with you and Natlie?� �Oh, long story. We tried it and it didn�t work.� �Hayden, I�m so sorry. Is there anything I can do?� �Well, yeah, can I come by for a few? I would love to see how you�re doing?� �Um, sure, just let the girls know and come out back, kay?� �Sure, bye.� �Bye.� I hung up the phone and stared at Megan as she walked out. �What�s wrong?� �Hayden is coming over.� �This is not good. We gotta work on a song.� �I know, I know, and I�m starting one.� �What�s it called?� �I�m not sure yet. I just have the chorus.� She rolled her eyes and I couldn�t help but laugh. I wrote a few more lines, the beat going over in my head. I tapped my foot, not hearing the door close or open. �Theresa?� I jumped out of my chair and smiled at Hayden. �I�m sorry, didn�t mean to scare you.� �Don�t be. So, what happened?� He sighed and glanced towards the beach. �Wanna take a walk?� �Of course.� We walked down the steps and along the beach. It was a few moments before he said anything. �She just couldn�t deal with something.� �With what?� �My love for another woman.� I stopped walking and looked at him. �I thought the only woman you could ever love was her. Who could you possibly love more than that?� �Someone. She�s a good friend, someone I trust a lot.� �She�s gotta be special than. Don�t let her go.� �I don�t plan on yet. I�ve seen her have her heart taken out by the guy she was with. He constantly made her cry. Now all I want to show her is happiness.� I frowned up at him. �Who is she Hayden?� �She�s you Theresa.� My eyes opened wide and I stepped back from him. �No, no, Hayden, you can�t do that.� I turned away from him and stared at the endless ocean. �I didn�t want to, but I couldn�t stop it. You are everything I could ever want in a woman.� �What makes you think I�m not taking?� �Cause I know. Jennifer called me after it all happened.� I raised my eyebrow and slowly turned around to him. �Funny, truly funny.� �What is?� �The fact that you�re now single, when just yesterday I read an article you were happy in love with Natalie.� �Oh, you read that?� �What game are you playing Hayden?� I glanced behind him and saw Jennifer sitting on the porch. �Just wanted to make ya smile. I know Howie left you hurting.� I sighed and smiled. �Yeah, but I know him and I know that no matter how hard we fight, we do love each other. So, is everything okay?� �Just fine. Natalie does say hi though.� �Oh, that�s good. I�m glad everything is going just fine. Let�s go back inside.� He smiled and lead the way. We walked by Jennifer and I stared at her. She smiled and we all walked back into the house. I sat down at the table a couple hours later with Jennifer and together we finished the beat to a bomb ass song. We laughed as we wrote and walked into the recording studio. Hayden was watching TV in the living room. I walked in and smiled at him. |
