Why?
Another practice.
Okay, you love to dance, but you hardly give up our free time.  Whats up?  He walked into my room and sat down on the edge of my bed.  I just went into my closet and pulled out a few clothes.  I walked out and put them on my bed.  I felt Ramon put his arms around my waist and pull me down on his lap.  Tell me whats up?
Fine.  I told him how Lynn signed me up for the audition and how I had practice for a while.  But I dont think Ill make it.  I mean, come on.  Im not that good.
Please.  If they dont pick you, then they are truly stupid.  I mean, you are a damn good dancer.
Thanks Ramon.  Im glad you have faith in my, I said as I got up from his lap.
What?  You dont have faith in yourself?
Well, not a lot.
God Theresa.  Sometimes I wonder about you.  I mean, look at our living room.  Medals and trophies that you won.
That doesnt prove anything, I yelled.  I really hated it when people told me how I was suppose to feel.
Youre right.  That doesnt prove that you are the top dancer in the school.  But why stop there.  Youve been in the dance championships and you became the best in the state.  But still, that doesnt prove anything.
God, why are you such an asshole?  Now get out of here.  Im going to get ready for bed, I said.  I smiled at him, showing him that I gave in.
Fine.  Night Resa.  He walked over to me, gave me a hug and a quick kiss on the cheek.
Night Ramon.  I closed the door behind him and sighed.  Is it possible.  Do I have a chance? I thought.  I  walked over to my bed and flipped my CD player on.  I set it to shuffle and the first song that played was 10,000 Promises.  I just closed my eyes and pictured what it would be like to dance with the Boys.

The next week went by really fast with my classes and practices and my daily calls down to Florida.  Everyday I called Shannon and kept her updated on how everything was going.  She, like me, was on her senior year at college.  She had decided on going to the University of Florida.  Somehow, the distance never once effected our friendship.  As Saturday morning rolled around, I woke up to the phone ringing.
Hello? I mumbled.
Um, dont you have some place to get going soon? Shannon asked.
Girl, it isnt till 2:00.
If Im not mistaken, is it not 11:00 down there?
What?  I looked over at my clock and freaked.  Shannon was right.  I had four hours till my audition.  Thanks.  But I have to get one more practice in before I have the audition.  So, Ill call as soon as Im done.
Okay.  Good luck.  Love ya Mrs.Dorough.
Thanks.  Love you too Mrs.McLean.  I hung up the phone and jumped out of bed.  I grabbed what I was going to need for the day and raced to my car.  I finally reached the dance room around 11:15.  Hey Lynn.  Sorry, I over slept.
I guess its okay.  Anything you want to work on?
Come on Lynn.  You know that I cant get that twist move.  Im going to work on that.  For the next two and a half hours, I worked on that one move.  Finally, I just gave up.
Theresa?
Hey Shannon.
Why dont you try that one more time.
Okay.  Wait!  Shannon?!?!
Yeah, its me.
Oh my God.  What are you doing here?
Seeing my best friend.  What else?
God, thanks for coming.
Your more then welcome.  But I have to leave tonight.
Why?
Because I have my finals coming up and I have to study.
Okay, I mean, I understand.  Im glad you came to support me.
Hey, I know you.  Right now, you have no faith in yourself, she said, giving me a hug.
Youre so true.  I pulled back and looked into her eyes.  I knew that she supported me and with that, I gave the move one last shot.  And I nailed it.
Good job.  That was cool, by the way, Shannon said, giving me another hug.
Thanks.  I have to go get going.  Would you like to come?
Can I?
Yeah.  But you have to stay by the door.
Thats cool.  We jumped in my car and talked.  I must ask Shannon, how did you get up here?  I mean, its way too much money for you to have bought a ticket.
No.  Remember that card you got me for my birthday?  The one that has like three tickets on it?
Yeah.
Well, this was the last ticket I had on it.
Oh, okay.  So, who picked you up?
No one.  I got a cab.
Oh.  Well, Im glad you came up to see me.  Oh look.  I guess this is where my audition is.  I pulled into a space and we got out.  We walked into the building and there was a big room.  I looked to the left and saw Fatima Robinson. I walked over to her.  Hi, I said.
How can I help you? she asked, looking at me.
Um, I have an audition.  My name is Theresa Lambe.
Oh yes.   You have half an hour.  Would you like to warm up?
Actually, no.
Would you like to go now?
Yes, if thats okay?
Sure it is.  In the other room is the dance room.  Just go in there.  I thanked her and went to the door.  I motioned for Shannon to follow me.  She gave me a quick hug and stepped into the room.  I looked around and saw Brian Littrell, Kevin Richardson, and Lou Pearlman.  After we walked in Fatima came in.  She motioned for Shannon to sit next to her.  I walked over to the table where everyone sat and smiled.
Hi.  Im Theresa.  And this is my best friend Shannon.  Kevin extended his hand and smiled a little.
Hi, he said.  Next Brian extended his hand and smiled.  I looked closely and noticed it was forced.  Shannon did the same and sat down.
Be friendly Bri. This is the last girl, Fatima told Brian.
