Twin Spotted Rattlesnake
A
small montane rattlesnake, 18" to 26" in length. A blue-gray to
orange-brown snake with two rows of paired or sometimes alternating darker
blotches on the back. Blotches become singular near the tail. The belly is cream
colored with mottling of dark grayish-brown.
Found
above 6200 ft and below 11000 ft in primarily coniferous forest. The
Twin-spotted Rattlesnake frequents rocky outcrops and slopes of talus slides.
Primarily
diurnal. Twin-spotted Rattlesnakes eat lizards, small rodents, and likely
arthropods.
This
snake is found in the Sky Island mountains of southeastern Arizona.
