Jake Steel: And now, its time for the fun to begin, Will. As if on cue, the house lights dim in the arena, as spotlights shine from above on the ominous structure that begins to lower from the ceiling. Around the ring, crew members are stationed to make sure the cell doesnt lower onto anything that shouldnt be underneath it. Will Prydor: I wrestled for seventeen years, and the closest I even came to this style of match was the War Games match at Uprising 42. This is a match that can makeand endcareers. Jake Steel: On the other hand, the amounts of ABUSE~ that could result from this is enough to make my night! Will Prydor: Im not sure either The Jackrabbit or Talon cares about your demands for violence, Jake. Right now, theyre focused on one thing, and that is the honor of being called the final NLW Champion. The cell gently comes to a rest surrounding the ring, and after a bit of scurrying about to make sure no camera cables, wires, or other foreign objects are trapped under the edge of the cell, the ring crew vacates the area as the house lights come back on to show the structure in all its barbaric glory surrounding the ring and rising twenty feet into the air. Jake Steel: Now thatthat is glorious. Will Prydor: Its dangerous as hell, and neither man is going to be the same after tonight, I can almost guarantee you that. Jake Steel: Well, lets get on with it! Its time to let them beat the holy hell out of each other for my personal amusement! Will Prydor: Zach, take it away! The bell sounds, drawing the attention of everyone in the arena to the side of the cell, where Zach King stands ready. Zach King: The following contest, scheduled for one fall to a finish, is a Steel Cell match for the NLW Championship! In this match, there are no countouts or disqualifications, and falls only count inside the ring! I Stand Alone by Godsmack hits and the lights dim. Two spotlights pan slowly around the crowd in opposite directions before both snapping to focus on Talon. The enigma stands with his arms beatifically outstretched, a piece of lead piping clasped in each hand and his hair covering his face as he looks at the floor. As the first chorus hits his head flicks back, and a sadistic smirk adorns his face as he gazes around at the crowd, body unmoving. The second chorus hits, and Talons eyes raise to the heavens, the smirk slipping away to be replaced by a look of savage intensity. I Stand Alone, Everything That I Believe Is Fading The lights begin to flicker, and the enigmas attention snaps to the ring and he sprints towards it. The spotlights lag behind as they chase him to the ring and by the time they catch up he stands on the ring ropes, arms once more outstretched eyes staring challengingly at the crowd. Zach King: Introducing first, from Parts Unknown and weighing 280 poundsTalon! Will Prydor: On first glance, Talon should have an advantage here. He has the size differential. He has the power advantage. Hes yet to wrestle a match in this version of NLW that has disqualifications in play. Jake Steel: And hes beaten Jackrabbit a number of times, too! Will Prydor: there is that, yes. But given the inner rage he has, and Ive seen it come out before, the stage is set for Talon to emerge victorious tonight. The arena lights dim and the sound of metal chains scraping a concrete floor can be heard across the sound system. They are broken up by a shrill laughter around the arena. As smoke fills the entrance-ramp area, Out Of My Head by Puddle of Mudd kicks in and Jackrabbit appears at the top of the ramp. Zach King: His opponent, from Parts Unknown and weighing 235 poundsThe Jackrabbit! Will Prydor: However, he shouldnt sleep on The Jackrabbit. Jake Steel: Youd know, given you lost to Jackrabbit in the past! Will Prydor: Its Jackrabbits unorthodox offense that gives him an advantage, plus the speed advantage he brings to this contest. Honestly, folks, this one could go either way, and I expect this match to be a downright brawl. Jake Steel: So I should expect you to leave before this is all done, right? Will Prydor: Not on your life, Jake. I want to see how this one turns out. As the official outside the cell closes the door and padlocks the chain keeping it closed, both Talon and The Jackrabbit stare across the ring at each other, their respective weapons held at the ready as the referee in the ring asks both men to put their weapons down. After a standoff of a few seconds, Talon backs up a step or two and puts his lead pipe on the canvas under the bottom turnbuckle. Jackrabbit does the same with his chains a couple seconds later, and the two combatants face each other unarmed as the referee calls for the bell to get our main event under way. As soon as the bell sounds, both men make a beeline for each other, meeting in the center of the ring with fists flying. After about a dozen punches thrown apiece, Talon gets the upper hand thanks to his strength, and starts to back Jackrabbit into the corner. Talon goes for another punch with Jackrabbit stuck in the corner, but Rabbit ducks out of the way and gets out of the corner, reversing positions so Talon is now the one stuck in the corner. A couple forearms to the jaw follow this, and Jackrabbit whips Talon out of the cornerno, reversal by Talon. Rabbit hits the corner and comes charging out like a man possessed, right into a clothesline from Talon. The Enigmatic One promptly starts stomping away at his former partner, connecting with several stomps before Rabbit can duck under the bottom rope and get to the floor. Instead of getting some time like he had hoped, though, Jackrabbit has to move around the ring quickly as Talon comes through the ropes to chase after him. After rounding the corner, Jackrabbit slides into the ring and heads for the opposite side, catching Talon coming in with a basement dropkick that sends The Enigmatic One back to the ringside area, shaking his head as Rabbit holds his ground in the center of the ring. Will Prydor: Even match so far, as Jackrabbit shows hes not going to back down from his old partner here. Jake Steel: And he shouldnt, not with the NLW Championship at stake. They need to keep at it, and try to make the other break! Will Prydor: You just want to see violence, dont you? Jake Steel: Yes, I do. So sue me! With countouts not being a thing in this match, Talon takes his time to refocus himself before climbing up the steps and stepping back into the ring, his eyes never leaving the form of his opponent. The two again square off, and as Jackrabbit closes in for a tie-up, Talon drives a knee into the midsection of his opponent, and fires off a European uppercut that staggers Rabbit back to the ropes. An Irish whip follows this, and Talon catches Jackrabbit off the rebound with a leaping side slam. No cover yet, as Talon knows itll take more than that to put his former partner away, especially with the NLW Championship on the line. Instead, Talon pulls Jackrabbit to his feet, and slams him back down to the mat before dropping an elbow on the chest of his opponent. Again, Talon refuses to go for the cover as he again pulls Rabbit off the mat. Irish whip attemptreversed by Jackrabbit, who drives a knee off the short wind-up into the gut of Talon, and drops to a knee to hit a right handed uppercut to the jaw that drops Talon to the mat. Jackrabbit follows this up with an elbow drop of his own, and waits for Talon to get to all fours before running forward with a leg drop to the back of Talons head. Cover by Jackrabbit: 1and thats it as Talon easily gets a shoulder up. Rabbit seems to have expected this, as he gets to his feet and goes to the ropes. Off the rebound, though, Talon rushes to his feet and drops Jackrabbit with a clothesline! Both men are down, moving towards opposing corners in order to get to their feet. Jake Steel: Oh, I like where this is going! Will Prydor: Im not sure if they realize that both of them are going for their signature weapons here. Jake Steel: Its time! Let the ABUSE~ consume you! As Jackrabbit grabs his chains and regains his feet, Talon grabs his lead pipe and does the same. Once more, the two men stand off as the crowd pops at the sight of both men armed with their signature weapons. At first glance, Jackrabbit has the advantage due to the obvious reach his chains have over the pipe of Talon, and it shows as Rabbit whips his chain at Talon. Talon raises the pipe to deflect the chain, and the pipe goes flying out of the ring and into the cell wall from the impact. As Jackrabbit tries to recover to take another swing, Talon darts forward and takes Rabbit off his feet with a double-leg takedown. Mounting up, Talon starts raining down right hands on the temple of his opponent, blow after blow rocking the head of Jackrabbit back and forth. In a moment of desperation, Rabbit lashed upward with his left hand, and the chain-wrapped appendage catches Talon between the eyes, stopping the barrage and allowing Jackrabbit to escape the mount and get back to his feet. From the camera shot, a very slight trickle of blood can be seen coming from Jackrabbits head as he snarls and lashes out the chain yet again. Instead of avoiding or somehow blocking the weapon, Talon twists slightly to the side, taking the blow to the thigh and simply tanking it as he charges forward with a lariat that turns Rabbit for a loop. As Jackrabbit tries to get his bearings back about him, Talon grabs the chain off the mat, yanking it off the hand of Jackrabbit as he does so, and throws it out of the ring. The sound of the chain sliding down the chain-link wall of the cell echoes loudly in the arena as Talon turns back to face his former partner. Jake Steel: Aww, come on Talon! Youre supposed to beat him with his own weapon! Make him pay for bringing it to the ring! Will Prydor: Thats not what Talon thinks, Jake, as is clearly evident. Jake Steel: But he should be more worried about my entertainment! Will Prydor: GO in there and tell him that. Jake Steel: Are you nuts? Ill stay out here, thank you! Will Prydor: I figured as much. Jackrabbit manages to get to his feet, but that doesnt last long as Talon charges forward and takes Rabbit down with a shoulder tackle. A couple of stomps follow this, before Talon decides that another high-impact move is in order, and picks Rabbit up off the mat. A whip to the corner follows this, and Talon charges in with a corner clothesline, all impact and nowhere for Jackrabbit to go except down to the mat. Talon leans in and applies a boot to the throat, choking Jackrabbit without fear of disqualification for much longer than a normal five-count would take. Finally, Talon lifts the boot to break the choke, as Jackrabbit coughs and tries to get some air into his body. Talon refuses to allow that to go uncontested, though, as he hauls Rabbit to his feet and unceremoniously chucks him out to the floor, following soon after. The former OWF PDA champion seems to be channeling that environment, as he lifts Jackrabbit to his feet and Irish whips him hard into the cell. Jackrabbit tries to get his hands up to deflect some of the punishment but its largely to no avail, as the camera can see that the small laceration has widened a bit, and blood is now clearly evident on the forehead of The Unorthodox One. Jake Steel: And we have blood! Someone call the Red Cross! Will Prydor: I cant help but feel that this is just the start of something terrible. Jake Steel: Terribly awesome you mean! The sight of the blood flowing a bit freer than before seems to set something off in Talon, who comes charging at Jackrabbit and connects with a clothesline to the back of the head, once again sending Jackrabbit careening headlong into the steel cell. As Rabbit tries to recover, Talon creates a little distance by going to an adjacent corner of the ring and disassembling the steel steps, carrying the top portion with him around the ring. Closing to within about eight feet of The Jackrabbit, Talon lifts the steps into a ramming position and charges at Jackrabbitwho senses Talon coming and instinctively leaps into the air, dropkicking the steps into the face of Talon. The impact sends Talon staggering back a step before he falls down, the steel steps landing on the pectoral muscles of Talon before falling off to the side. Both men need a few moments to recover, but its Jackrabbit who gets into motion first as he rummages under the ring, bringing a steel chair into play as Talon tries to get his bearings back about him. The Enigma gets to a knee, and starts to raise himself up to his feetbut thats as far as he can get before The Jackrabbit charges in, chair raised over his head to smash it onto the unprotected head and face of Talon! Talon falls back to the ringside mats, clearly looking a bit out of it as Jackrabbit brings the edge of the chair down across the throat of Talon to choke the oxygen out of the big man. Will Prydor: Good lord, that impact! Talon may have just suffered a concussion with that shot! Jake Steel: Thats the last of his worries right now; he needs to focus on trying to get air into his body! After about ten seconds of this, Jackrabbit releases the choke and raises the chair into the air again. Instead of the weapon making contact with Talon, the chair instead falls harmlessly to the mats as Talon manages to deliver a kick from the prone position into the gut of Jackrabbit. This allows Talon to get to his feetbut Jackrabbit responds with a bell clap to either side of Talons head to disorient The Enigma. Rabbit then grabs a handful of Talons hair and pulls Talons head into the chain link wall, grating his face from side to side for a few repetitions before bashing Talons head into the cell a few times. Jackrabbit relinquishes the hold on the hair, and as Talon staggers away the camera can make out that Talon is now bleeding rather heavily from that last sequence. Talon rounds the corner of the ring and drops to a knee out of sight of the camera, as Jackrabbit comes around to continue the assault. The camera follows Rabbit around the cornerwhere Talon had managed to grab the lead pipe that Jackrabbit had knocked out of the ring earlier, and said pipe is promptly re-introduced to Jackrabbits skull. Rabbit lays motionless on the ringside mats, save for the occasional twitch of his body, as Talon takes the opportunity to recover a little bit more. Will Prydor: Oh my GOD! Jake Steel: Thats it, hes dead. Will Prydor: Talon may have just committed homicide, and theres not a damn thing the ref can do about it! Jake Steel: Would you want to be the one to tell Talon to put the pipe down? Will Prydor: If it meant saving someone from getting their brains scrambled, yes! Jake Steel: Man, youre a stupid one. Jackrabbit is still not moving as Talon finally wanders over to his fallen body, and is finally thrown into the ring after a bit of struggle. During this process, the lead pipe falls to the mats surrounding the ring. Talon slides into the ring soon after, and stomps the head of Jackrabbit once more for good measure before exiting onto the apron and beginning the ascent up the ropes. The damage taken from this match slows his ascent, as it takes him a good ten seconds to get up into position on the top rope, looking down at the prone form of his former partner. Then, with a nod, Talon leaps into the air, and connects with his Death From Above headbutt! Jackrabbit still isnt moving as Talon eventually gets into the cover, the impact rattling him as well as he hooks the far leg and the referee slides into position: 1! 2! Threeno! Jackrabbit gets his left shoulder up as the referee stops his arm, his hand maybe five centimeters off the mat! Jake Steel: Wait, that wasnt three?! Will Prydor: Yes, Jake, but only barely! I was an in-ring competitor for seventeen years, and watched the sport for another ten before thatand Ive never seen a kickout that close to the count of three! Another split second and this one would be over! Inside the ring, Talon looks gobsmacked. By all rights, he should be the champion right now; no one kicks out of Death From Above! Frustrated, Talon picks up Jackrabbit, who appears out on his feet, and backs away a few steps before charging in, connecting with his Bloody Talons big boot and following through with the impact! Again Jackrabbit is down, and once more Talon goes for the cover. Surely that has to be it: 1! 2! Thrno! Only two and a half this time, as again Jackrabbit gets the left shoulder upand forces out a laugh? Talon shouts at Jackrabbit, loud enough for the first few rows and the camera to catch it, to just stay down, Jay! Rabbits response is to force out another laugh, rising to a sitting position and starting to regain a vertical base. Will Prydor: How?! How is Jackrabbit even moving at this point? Jake Steel: I cant explain it myself, Will. The guy cant be human! Talon launches a right hand that connects, but Jackrabbit seems to not feel it as he gets fully to his feet, a manic grin crossing his face as Talon again goes for a right handbut Jackrabbit blocks it, and fires off a right of his own into the nose of Talon! A left to the jaw, a right to the temple, and a forearm shiver, and Jackrabbit seems to be on the attack here as he gets Talon against the ropes. An Irish whip follows, which Talon reverses. Off the rebound, Talon tries once again for Bloody Talons, but Jackrabbit ducks under the offending foot, reaches behind him, and grabs the head of Talon before quickly dropping into a hangmans neckbreaker! Jackrabbit doesnt go for a cover, instead pulling Talon back up to a standing position for a brief moment before executing an overhead butterfly suplex. This time, Jackrabbit crawls into a cover, not bothering to hook either leg: 1 2and thats it as Talon easily kicks out, having to expend a little energy to do so. Jackrabbit seems to have expected this yet again as he wastes no time pulling Talon to his feet and sending the big man into the ropes. Off the rebound, Jackrabbit catches Talon in what looks to be a tilt-a-whirl maneuverbut Jackrabbit halts the momentum of Talon while The Enigma is upside-down. Rabbit brings his other arm to hold Talon in placeand jumps into the air to add to the impact as he extends his legs out in front of him to execute an inverted seated piledriver! Talon collapses to the mat, and Jackrabbit quickly goes for a cover, hooking both legs this time: 1! 2! Thrno! Two and maybe three-quarters as Talon somehow pops his right shoulder off the mat! Will Prydor: Now its Talon who has to dig deep to kick out of these pin attempts! Jake Steel: While The Jackrabbit tries to break his opponents neck! Is there nothing they wont do to each other? Jackrabbit shakes his head, not quite believing that Talon managed to kick out of that piledriver, but theres no other reaction from The Unorthodox One as he gets to his feet, looking like he wants to end this match right here and now. Theres little wasted movement as Jackrabbit hauls Talon up to his feet, and gets himself into the correct position. A moment later, Talons head gets drilled into the mat with the Last Laugh! Jackrabbit lets out another laugh as he rolls into the cover, hooking both legs once again: 1! 2! Threeno! Theres barely any daylight between the referees hand and the mat as Talon gets his left shoulder up, and Jackrabbit cannot believe it as he turns to the referee, screaming that it was three! As the referee tries to explain that no, it was only two, Jackrabbit punches the ref in the gut, moves behind the poor official, and delivers the Fatemaker to the ref! Jackrabbit is the only one standing in the ring, as both Talon and the official are flat on the mat! Will Prydor: Come on, the ref did nothing wrong! Jake Steel: You tell that to Jackrabbit. Will Prydor: Dont tempt me, Jake. Rabbit looks around manically for a few moments before leaving the ring, walking over to reclaim his chain from the floor where Talon had tossed it earlier in the match. Wrapping it a couple of times around his right hand, Jackrabbit slides back into the ring under the bottom rope, quickly regaining his feet as Talon has managed to roll onto his stomach and is starting to try to get up. This is stopped in a hurry as Rabbit rears the right arm back and lashes out, the chain making a sickening sound as it impacts the flesh of Talon. Without hesitationor a referee to try to appeal to his better sideJackrabbit swings againand a third timeand a fourth, the red welts on the back of Talon now starting to slightly bleed in places, although nowhere to the degree of the laceration on the head of The Enigma. In a fit of self-preservation, Talon finally manages to escape the ring and, at least for the time being, the chain-assisted assault of Jackrabbit. The Unorthodox One ducks between the ropes on the side adjacent to Talon, and rounds the corner to continue the assaultbut Talon, in a spot of good fortune, went out of the ring within reach of his lead pipe and now brings it to bear on Jackrabbit, catching him in the stomach with the weapon. A second shot, this time to the kidney area, drops Rabbit to the mats. While Jackrabbit is trying to recover from those two shots, Talon once more disarms his former partner of the steel chain, tossing it into the ring and just barely missing the still unconscious referee, before his gaze levels on the panel of chain link wall at the corner of the cell nearest the time keepers area. Will Prydor: oh, no. Jake Steel: Wait, is he going to? Will Prydor: Yes, Jake. Thats exactly what he wants to do. Jake Steel: You may be calling the rest of this one on your own, Will. Im getting ready to move the hell out of the way. Reaching down, Talon pulls Jackrabbit up to his feet by the hair, and whips him as hard as Talon possibly can into the cell. Rabbit collides face-first with the fence, and the impact turns him back aroundwhere Talon is charging in to connect with a spear. The impact of both men colliding with the cell is enough for something to give way structurally, and that portion of the cell separates from the rest of the structure with a loud pop, and the fence crashes down right in front of the timekeeper and Zach King at ringside! The audience pops at this, as the fight has gone from the contained structure into the open. Both men are a bit slow to get up, with Talon clearly the first to recover, and he promptly grabs the ring bell and hammer from the timekeeper. Jackrabbit is a bit woozy, trying to regain his footing, and Talon does him no favors when he places the bell atop Jackrabbits ear and hits it with the hammer! The pain is more internal than anything, as Jackrabbit rolls away holding his ear thanks to the loud noise Talon just orchestrated. The Enigma tosses both implements to the mats as he stalks his former partner, delivering the occasional kick as he gets in range. Rounding the corner, Jackrabbit finally manages to get to his feet, still a bit shaky from the ring bell incident a moment ago, but at least able to intelligently defend himself as he stands at the base of the entrance ramp. Behind him, Talon comes charging in looking for a shoulder block to the back of Jackrabbit, but somehow The Unorthodox One sensed Talon was charging and leaps to the side, causing Talon to run hip and arm first into the barricade. Before Talon can fully recover, though, hes sent into the first row by a Jackrabbit clothesline, sending him over the barrier and into the fans at ringside! Will Prydor: The cell was designed to keep them in, and keep interference out! So much for that, as the fight goes into the crowd! Jake Steel: Like a mere cell was enough to contain these two! Instead of pressing the attack, Jackrabbit takes a few desperately needed moments to further recover from the assault hes endured over the last few minutes. Talon finally manages to get on the proper side of the barricade, and this prompts Jackrabbit to finally spring back into action as he charges forward and drops Talon with a leaping bulldog. Getting to his feet, Jackrabbit slowly makes his way to the feet of his fallen opponent, and hooks up a slingshot that he uses a moment later, sending Talon face-first into the exterior of the cell. The impact has Talon leaning against the cell itself, as Jackrabbit closes inonly to eat a back elbow as Talon retaliates. Turning around, Talon picks up Jackrabbit and drops him chest-first across the top of the barricade. Rabbit staggers towards the side of the ring where the gaping hole in the cell waits, as Talon gives chase. Talon catches up to his former partner in front of the announcers table, and both Will and Jake get the hell out of the way as the two combatants exchange blows in front of the table. Talon gets the upper hand with a kick to the gut, slamming Rabbits head into the table, and following that up with a DDT that spikes Jackrabbit on the top of his head on the thin protective mats. As Talon gets to his feet, he takes a look at the announce table for a long momentthen shifts his gaze upward. The crowd begins to murmur as they sense what Talon is thinking. A moment later, Talon forcibly clears off the announce table, and places Rabbit on it after delivering a hard right uppercut for good measure. Then, making sure his opponent isnt moving, Talon turns and begins to scale the outside of the cell, as the crowd starts to erupt at seeing this. Will Prydor: Oh, no. Jake Steel: Oh, yes! He wants to be sure, no matter what! Will Prydor: Its not worth it, Jake! This is a surefire way to shorten your career, no matter what! Jake Steel: He thinks its worth it, though! It takes Talon a good thirty seconds or so to get to the top of the cell, and as he finally does reach the top he turns to see that Jackrabbit is just barely starting to stir. Looking down at his former partner, Talon sneers and runs a thumb across his throat. The crowd noise intensifies, and the flash of lights from cameras and smartphones alike becomes almost blinding as Talon spreads his arms out wide, and leaps. For a split second, it seems that time has stopped as the enormity of what Talon is willing to do to win this match registers on every single spectator in the arena. For that one second, Talon seems to have transcended mankind, and flies through the air as if deified. However, that illusion is shattered a moment later as Talon crashes through Jackrabbit, the announcers table, and possibly the arena floor itself as he connects with a Death From Above from the top of the twenty-foot high steel cell! Jake Steel: HOLY SHIT! Will Prydor: FUCKING HELL! It seems the crowd is in agreement with Jake Steel, as a raucous Holy Shit! chant erupts in the arena. Yet, neither man is moving to acknowledge it. From the entryway, a swarm of EMTs and officials come from the back, making a beeline for the announcers position where both Talon and The Jackrabbit lay unmoving. The downed portion of the cell causes a little bit of confusion before a couple of officials manage to move it onto its side and make a path for the medics to do their job. As the medics try to safely move the two men from the wreckage of the innocent announce table, another has slid into the ring through the hole in the cell and is checking on the official who was dropped on his head a number of minutes ago by Jackrabbit. Its a veritable sea of chaos around the ring, and from the edge of the camera show we see Caelan Tyler trying to direct traffic as best he can so that these two warriors can get the medical care they both need. The crowd, as well as the announcers, have fallen silent as the medics work. Finally, after a long couple of minutes of uncomfortable silence, one team of EMTs has loaded Talon onto a stretcher and begins to wheel him towards the entryway. A second team of EMTs has placed Jackrabbit on a backboard as well, and lifts him onto the gurney. The moment the board touches the stretcher, it seems like the contact has kickstarted something deep within Rabbits psyche, as he rolls off to his right and off the stretcher, landing on his knees. The medics plead with Jackrabbit to just go on the stretcher, but Rabbit shakes the hands of the well-meaning medical staff off of himand he turns to start climbing the cell?! Will Prydor: Come on, Jackrabbitthe title isnt worth that! Its not worth literally killing yourself over! Jake Steel: Will, in this instance normally Id crack a joke about you knowing from experiencebut youre right here. Even this is too much ABUSE~ for meoh, no. Will Prydor: What, Jake? What dooh God, no. No, this is going too damn far! What are the announcers talking about here? Only Talon fighting his way off his stretcher and getting to his feet at the base of the entryway. Atop the cell, Jackrabbit lets out a weak laugh and motions for Talon to come get him. Without hesitation, Talon staggers to the base of the cage and begins to climb up himself, his body shaking with the exertion and the punishment hes endured in this match. At the top, Jackrabbit has fallen to a knee, unable to stay standing himself thanks to the physical abuse hes suffered. Finally, Talon makes it to the top of the cell, and rolls a few feet away from the edge before forcing himself to his feet. Across the way, The Jackrabbit does the same, and the two men lock gazes across the width of the cell. Neither mans eyes leave the form of his opponent as they move towards the center of the cell. Will Prydor: This is not going to end well, Jake! They better keep the damn EMTs out here! Jake Steel: Or get the coroner on the phone! This isnt going to end until someone literally dies here! Jackrabbit throws the first punch, which seems to have no effect on Talon. Talon retaliates with a blow that sends jackrabbit back a step or two. The two men trade blows a few more times until Talon, who has established that hes still in marginally better condition than Jackrabbit, picks up the smaller man and bodyslams him dead center of the cells ceiling. The chain link gives a little, but doesnt break as Jackrabbit rolls out of the damaged area and towards the edge of the cell nearest the entrance way. Talon follows as Jackrabbit reaches the edge and starts to position himself to climb down the cell wallbut Talon is quick to stop that with a hand around the throat of Jackrabbit! Tensing himself up, Talon manages to pull Rabbit back onto the cell and looks down at the floor. Will Prydor: Hes not going to chokeslam Jackrabbit all the way to the damn floor, is he?! Jake Steel: He jumped off the cell and through the announcers table to punish Jackrabbit, Will, what the hell do you think? Talon throws Jackrabbits other arm out of the way and lifts Rabbit into the airbut Jackrabbit manages to shift his weight around to land behind Talon on his knees. A second later, half the audience groans in sympathy as Rabbit goes low with an uppercut! Talon staggers away from the edge of the cell, falling to his knees nearer the center of the cell as Jackrabbit gets his wits back about him. A second later, Jackrabbit is back on his feet as he closes in on his former partner. Talon somehow manages to spring to his feet to attempt a clothesline, but Jackrabbit ducks the attempt as Talon stops well short of the edge of the cell. Turning around, Talon again charges forward, hoping to keep Jackrabbit off balance mentally and on the defensive. Except for that moment when the defensive turns to offense. Jackrabbit grabs the onrushing Talon by the waist and lifts him up, twisting as he does so to connect with the spinebuster on the cellright where the cell was damaged barely a minute ago. Once more, something gives way, and both men fall through the roof of the cell and to the center of the ring, effectively making Jackrabbits spinebuster a sheer fifteen-foot drop spinebuster! On impact, its too much for the ring to take and it literally implodes, the corner posts giving way and leaving the twenty-by-twenty foot ring barely recognizable as the ropes fall down, the ring sitting on an angle. Jake Steel: Whathow in thedid I just Will Prydor: Folks, this has to be the God-damnedest thing I have ever seen in my 35 years of life! The cell has been torn apart, the ring is utterly destroyed, and there are two human beings in what is left of the ring who have killed each other tonight for the NLW Championship! Jake Steel: (continues to babble incoherently) The medical staff, who had stayed at the base of the entrance ramp, once more rush around the cell, this time trying to get in through the hole in the wall, while another official frantically works to unlock the door to the cell. Before the first EMT can enter the cell from the hole in the wall, Jackrabbit pushes himself up to his feet, knees shaking heavily as he tries to steady himself. At his feet, Talon tries to fight his way up to his feet as well, and Jackrabbit only notices when Talon grabs hold of Rabbits knees to try to regain his vertical base. Reaching down, Jackrabbit grabs Talon by the hair and pulls him up to his feet, staring a hole into the eyes of his former tag team partner. For one moment in time, the two halves of Fusion look like theyve gone to war together and somehow emerged on the other side. Then Jackrabbit ducks his head down, managing with the last bits of energy in his ravaged body to lift Talon into position for the Last Laughand connects it flush! Exhausted, Jackrabbit lies across the body of Talon as the replacement referee in this contest finds a spot to drop down for the count: 1! 2! . 3! The bell sounds as Caelan signals whomever is in charge of the cell to get the thing off the ground so the EMTs can do their job. As the structure raises up and EMTs storm the ring, the official announcement is made. Zach King: Ladies and gentlemen, here is your winner, and the NEW and FINAL NLW Champion THE JACKRABBIT!! Will Prydor: I dont know how either man can still be moving after that! This match had to take a good ten years off of each wrestlers career! Jake Steel: Will, I daresay this is one match that no one will ever forget. I sure as hell wont! In the ring, EMTs rush to get the two warriors onto stretchers and off to get proper medical attention. From his prone position on the mat, Talon can be seen weakly raising an arm over the back of The Jackrabbit, who is still laying atop him, as if embracing his one-time friend. The moment passes quickly enough as the EMT crew pull Rabbit off of Talon and get The Enigma loaded onto a backboard, and onto a waiting stretcher. This time, Talon doesnt resist, and the medical staff are quick to wheel him away from ringside and towards the back, where an ambulance is surely waiting for him. Back in the ring, the second squad of EMTs work on getting Jackrabbit onto the second stretcher, who weakly bats their hands away as he manages to get to a sitting position. Instead, he struggles for a full minute or so before he manages to rise to his feet, NLW championship in his grasp as he raises an arm into the air in victory. The crowd, despite their normal dislike of Jackrabbits antics, cant help but applaud the efforts of the victorious warrior as he standsbarely under his own power, but still on his feetas the final NLW Champion. And it is on this scene that the camera fades to black, bringing the initial tour of NLW to a close. |
