The Jackrabbit
VS. Talon
In A: Singles Match
For The: Quest For The Best 2014 Quarter-Finals
On: 27 April 2014, OWF Quest For The Best 2014

Bobby Shavonie - So I feel weird asking you, do you have any predictions going forward?

Nick Burst - You should feel weird, because I didn't place any bets tonight. I have no clue what is going to happen, besides seeing some great fucking matches.

Bobby Shavonie - I think the winner of Talon and The Jackrabbit's match has a really good shot.

Nick Burst - You think the road through the World Champion gives them a boost? What about Freedom Kid and Jesse Williams? Either Williams destroys him, or FK pulls off a huge win. I'd say the top bracket played out differently than the bottom.

Bobby Shavonie - It's what you and your thirty-three percenters voted for with the seeding.

Nick Burst - Again, can't talk about that Bobby.

From the duo of Bobby Shavonie and Nick Burst the camera man pans to his left, picking up OWF Ring Announcer Missy Janson just as she is standing to her feet from her seat next to the time keepers table.

Bobby Shavonie - That works out just fine, as it seems like we are all set for our next match.

Nick Burst - Good. I've been looking forward to it, as I'm sure many others have as well; besides the competitors themselves.

Bobby Shavonie - Without any further hesitation, lets hand it over to Missy!

Now that the fans see Missy Janson standing, they join her; knowing what contest is up next. They remain quiet to allow the Ring Announcer to get to her introductions.

Missy Janson - The following match is scheduled for a one-fall, with no time limit... And it is the LAST Quarterfinal Match in the 2014 Quest For The Best Tournament!

Now they raise their voices, clapping along with it ready to keep this tournament rolling.

Missy Janson - The winner of this match will move on to the Semifinals of the Tournament to be held later tonight...

They've heard this now for the fourth time, so they have become incredibly familiar with the stakes; but that doesn't stop them from showing their appreciation.

Missy Janson - Introducing first... from Parts Unknown... He is the 6th Seed in the Quest For The Best Tournament... THE JACKRABBIT!

The arena lights dim and the sound of metal chains scraping a concrete floor can be heard across the sound system. They are broken up by a shrill laughter around the arena and the crowd explodes into cheers. As smoke fills the entrance-ramp area, "Out Of My Head" by Puddle of Mudd kicks in and the Jackrabbit appears at the top of the ramp.

"What is wrong with all my friends
I know that I am unlike them
Just another situation
Don't hold me back
I don't look up to them"

Steel chains drape across his shoulders and behind him on the ground as the Jackrabbit slowly makes his way to the ring.

Nick Burst - If anyone is on a hot streak as of late, it's The Jackrabbit. Since he revamped his style and the way he approaches his matches, he's been hard to stop.

Bobby Shavonie - Right you are, Nick. The Jackrabbit had a great match against Plague just over a week ago, and now he's going to have to be even better tonight if he wants to make it into the Semifinals.

Nick Burst - Not to mention he's going against Talon, his former tag team partner, for the second time since they've both been in the OWF. The last time they fought Talon got the win.

Bobby Shavonie - And he's going to remember that, and hopefully use it as motivation tonight; but Talon has been unstoppable in the past few months. Can The Jackrabbit be the one to bring him back down to earth?

Nick Burst - I'm sure he can, but it may not be up to him. All he can do when that bell rings is be his best. Everything out of his control will remain as such, so he cannot sweat that. A clear mind in a match like this, where so much is on the line, is the best friend JR can ask for.

Bobby Shavonie - That and not involving those steel chains.

Nick Burst - Well obviously. If he introduces them he's going to be disqualified; and same goes for Talon with his trademark steel pipes that he brings out. Neither man can afford to be that shortsighted.

Climbing under the bottom rope, he suddenly sprints to the turnbuckle and climbs it, staring out over the audience with a stony look on his face and his chains clutched to his chest.

"No one's ever listening
The lines are crossed somewhere between
My head is spinning like a top
I don't not know when this shit is going to stop"

The Jackrabbit suddenly breaks into a manic smile before stamping back to the middle of the ring. The referee tries to coerce the chains from him, but he pulls back on them, giving the referee a wild-eyed look before finally relinquishing them with a shrill laugh. The lights come back up as the Jackrabbit takes his place in the corner, as his music fades and the OWF Official discards of the chains to the outside.

Missy Janson - And his opponent... from Parts Unknown... He is the 3rd Seed in the Quest For The Best Tournament; CURRENTLY ONE-HALF OF THE OWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS, AND THE OWF PUBLIC DISPLAY OF AGGRESSION CHAMPION... TALON!

The lights in the arena cut out. "I Stand Alone" by Godsmack hits and after a few lyrics two spotlights focus on the ramp. A figure stands there in a trenchcoat, head bowed, hair covering his face. As the music plays one spotlight then the next flickers off.

Nick Burst - What is there to say about Talon that we didn't speak about before his match against Eva De La Cruz? He continues his rampage, and if The Jackrabbit cannot beat him here I don't know if Talon can be stopped.

Bobby Shavonie - Well to play devil's advocate, the bottom half of the bracket is extremely tight; and if he does get past The Jackrabbit, it's no walk in the park for him from here.

Nick Burst - And again, I'd be a fool to assume anything about this tournament; as would Talon. Just because he has had Jackrabbit's number in the past doesn't mean he will tonight. This is a whole different ball game.

Bobby Shavonie - It's hard to say what we should expect from Talon tonight, because he like many others are getting their first taste of this tournament. Experience goes a long way and even though we've seen him, and The Jackrabbit, wrestle in multiple matches in one night; this is totally different.

Nick Burst - He'll find out soon enough, but for right now his only goal should be to win this match. He's smart enough, and focused enough against The Jackrabbit, that he shouldn't have to worry about his shortcomings catching up to him.

A few moments later both spotlights focus on the ring. Standing on the second rope at one of the turnbuckles, facing the ring, is Talon. His arms are stretched out to either side with a piece of lead-piping held in each. After glancing around the arena he hops off the rope, landing on his feet in the ring and discards the lead piping into his corner behind him.

As his music fades out OWF Referee Calvin Mills calls for the bell and backs up, not wanting to get between these two contestants as the match starts.

QUEST FOR THE BEST TOURNAMENT
QUARTERFINAL ROUND

VS

TALON
#3 SEED

THE JACKRABBIT
#6 SEED

Stipulations: Quest For The Best Tournament Quarterfinal Match. Normal Rules. Winner advances to the Semifinals of the Quest For The Best Tournament later tonight.

(Ding, Ding, Ding...)

By the sound of the third tone both Talon and The Jackrabbit charge at one another; meeting like two runaway cars on the freeway as they topple over. Rolling around on the canvas the two men jostle for any kind of position that would allow them to start off on offense, but for now they have to settle for short shots to the ribcage. They end up against the ropes with The Jackrabbit on top, allowing him to push Talon under the bottom ring cable; sending both men to the concrete floor. Since both men have made their exit the referee refuses to count them both out at the same time; wanting to get a winner, by almost any measures necessary. Calvin Mills makes his exit as the fans cheer this decision on loudly while The Jackrabbit and Talon split off for a second. Not a second later they engage one another in a collar and elbow tie-up, trying to overpower one another; which seems to go in favor of Talon. He rushes The Jackrabbit back first against the steel guardrail and tries to push him over into the crowd, resulting in the two competitors tumbling into the front row of fans; sending them running away as the referee has already lost control of this contest. Talon gets up to his feet first and kicks a few steel chairs out of the way to give himself some space to maneuver, but when he turns around The Jackrabbit nearly cuts him half with a viscious spear upon a few open chairs; amping up the pain level as the two men get further and further away from the ring. A large circle of fans stand around both competitors, cheering on The Jackrabbit as he makes his way up to his feet only to stomp Talon upon his chest as he tries to pull himself off the chairs.

Bobby Shavonie - Correct me if I'm wrong here, Nick... But this isn't a PDA Title match, is it?

Nick Burst - No sir, but the referee is doing the right thing by the tournament, the competitors and the fans.

Bobby Shavonie - How is that?!

Nick Burst - If one of them got disqualified, it just wouldn't come off right... We need clean winners.

Bobby Shavonie - Clean winners? How is any of what we have seen clean?

Trying to stay in control JR grabs Talon by the back of the head and manages to drag him up to his knees, where he receives a hard punch to the gut from his opponent for his troubles. Using that brief lapse of time Talon stands up and now takes hold of The Jackrabbit's head, pulling him forward into a lifting knee strike just under the sternum. With JR slightly bent over Talon latches onto him, pulling his opponent in for a suplex hold. Instead of hoisting him straight up into the air, Talon settles for barely getting JR's legs up into the air before he tosses him forward; causing The Jackrabbit to land face-and-chest first upon the mess of steel chairs. Now that the level of violence has started to pick up OWF Referee Calvin Mills gets between Talon and Jackrabbit, ordering Talon to get back to the ring. At first Talon steps forward as if he's ready to attack the referee, but when Mills stands his ground he agrees to back off. Turning around the official for this match checks on The Jackrabbit, but there is no need as he jumps up from his knees and nearly knocks Mills to his ass as he sprints past him. JR crashes into Talon and tackles him back-first into the steel guard rail with so much force that it becomes unhinged; toppling over to ringside with both men falling down on top of it. Security moves in once Talon and Jackrabbit roll off of it so that they can get it back into place, while the nearest camera man follows the movements of JR as he grabs onto the edge of the ring apron to stand himself up. He goes a step further, hopping up on the edge of the ring apron above Talon; then a second later his opponent gets to his feet on the concrete floor. The stare at one another when Jackrabbit runs on the thin edge, kicking his left foot at the face of Talon. Talon ducks under the kick, spins himself around on a dime and clotheslines the calves of The Jackrabbit; laying him flat out to his back, snapping his head on the unprotected steel edge of the apron. The crowd gasps a little bit while Talon doesn't bother admiring what he has just done, instead he moves up to a knee on the edge of the apron outside of the ropes. He uses the ring cables to stand himself up and only then does he reach down, lifting Jackrabbit up off his back; standing him upright directly in front of him. Reaching around his body Talon latches onto his opponent in a reverse waist lock, ready to dump JR over his head. At the last second The Jackrabbit uses his right arm to hook the top rope, preventing Talon from performing his lift. At the same time he throws his left elbow back, connecting with the side of Talon's head; not only releasing him from his grip, but also sending Talon back a step. With very little room to work The Jackrabbit carefully turns himself around to face his opponent, then takes two big steps forward to bring his right knee into the chest of Talon with a running knee lift. This puts even more distance between the two men as Talon backpedals trying to keep his balance, while The Jackrabbit voluntarily walks backwards on the edge of the apron. Now he's able to actually get a good head of steam as he sprints towards Talon, only to be stopped dead in his tracks with the big right hand of his opponent grabs JR around the throat. Wasting no time Talon hoists The Jackrabbit up into the air looking for a chokeslam but JR counters, flipping himself over the top rope to land on his feet back inside of the ring. Leaping high into the air The Jackrabbit nails Talon with a dropkick to the chest, sending him flying down to the floor; but luckily for Talon he lands on both feet on the concrete floor. The Jackrabbit doesn't anticipate that, or what comes next which is Talon diving right back into the ring on his way back to his feet. The referee joins them now, and for the first time since the match began all three are inside of the squared circle. Both men are worse for the wear than they were then, and it's starting to show as instead of going right at each other both JR and Talon hang back a bit. The match doesn't come to a halt at any point as both men rush at each other, trading furious fists to the face as this match is more personal than anything. The crowd begins to show it's split when Jackrabbit hits Talon with a right and they cheer out "Yay!", then when Talon retaliates they groan "Boo!". This happens back and forth for a half dozen punches until Talon cuts JR off with a knee to the gut, followed by a clobbering forearm to the back. Glancing back over his right shoulder Talon notices the ropes are nearby so he stutter steps backwards, hitting the ring cables with his back to come back in looking for a big boot to the face. It connects and The Jackrabbit is nearly sent down to the mat, while Talon immediately moves into the second phase of The End of Reason which is an axe kick. Somehow JR pulls his head backwards just in time to avoid the impact, and gets behind his opponent; giving Talon a firm shove upon his back. Heading towards the ropes Talon makes the decision that he wants to avoid hitting with his chest so he turns himself around at the last second, hitting the ring cables back-first and rebounding off of them. As he returns The Jackrabbit leaps into the air and takes his opponent flat to his back with a Lou Thesz press; mounting Talon after it to deliver repeated right hands to the face, giving the fans a reason to cheer out loud. When he feels like he is finished The Jackrabbit gets up off of Talon and takes a few steps away from him, hunkering down and waiting for his opponent to return to his feet with obviously an idea in mind. While JR uses this time to catch his breath and recover a bit, Talon has to expend his own energy to even get himself back to his feet; and it proves to be no easy process, taking him many seconds to do so. Once The Jackrabbit is certain that Talon is on his feet, for good, he bounds off the ring ropes and directs himself straight at his opponent with the intention of laying in a running forearm. He never gets the chance as JR is scooped up into the air from behind his thighs and broughts straight down to his back with a textbook spinebuster delivered by Talon who crumbles onto his hands and knees after the move. Choosing to crawl away and proceed at his own pace Talon turns his body to keep an eye on his opponent, while continuing with his own progress to get back to a standing position.

As Talon stands up he is booed by the crowd but as usual he pays them no attention, never swaying his focus away from his opponent who is now sitting himself up. Moving inward Talon takes hold of The Jackrabbit by the hair to help him up to his feet, then immediately takes hold of his left arm to irish whip him chest-first into a nearby neutral corner. Coming out of it in a backpedal The Jackrabbit stumbles right into the grasp of Talon who tosses JR head-first through the middle and top ropes; sending his right shoulder directly upon the steel ring post. The sound of flesh-on-steel fills the arena and the crowd is in shock while The Jackrabbit remains in this vulnerable position until Talon grabs him around the waist line to get him set up into a back drop position; instead using it to lift JR to a seated position on the top rope, facing the crowd. For good measure he nails Jackrabbit with a forearm to the lower back, then begins to climb the ropes behind his opponent.

Bobby Shavonie - This is where you have to think that this match has taken a turn for the dangerous... Both men want to win, but their bodies are going to fade away here.

Nick Burst - They haven't stopped yet, and they're both looking for that one huge move that will give them a clear path forward. Right now, if Talon hits this, Jackrabbit is going to have a hill to climb to get back into this match.

Bobby Shavonie - But even if they win, what more can they offer in the next round against Nicholas Perry?

Nick Burst - Neither of them are worried about that right now. They want to beat each other, and cause pain to one another, more than anything. Whoever advances will deal with their future when they get to it. Just like we should be as we call this match.

Again tucking his head under Jackrabbit's left arm, Talon stands up on the top rope and lifts The Jackrabbit straight up into the air. He falls backwards and delivers the top rope back suplex, and the entire ring shakes upon impact; with the fans falling into a stunned silence. After contact with the ring canvas even Talon is a little shaken up, so much so that he cannot profit from the huge move he just hit. The Jackrabbit instinctively rolls over onto his stomach trying to keep the pressure off his back, which is the only thing keeping him from standing back up right now. The crowd isn't sure what to make of what they just saw as neither man makes much progress in the intial seconds after their landing. Talon stirs to his knees, pulling himself away from The Jackrabbit who is still dealing with the pain of what he just felt. By the time Talon has gotten up to his feet his opponent has only gotten up to all fours, which gives him plenty of time to approach from above; grabbing two handfuls of The Jackrabbit's hair, and uses that to yank him upwards. It's almost impossible for Jackrabbit to stand under his own power, yet he finds a way to do so as Talon throws a right arm directed at his face. Somehow The Jackrabbit grabs a hold of his opponent's right arm, steps behind Talon and tucks his right arm between his own legs; getting him set up into a pumphandle slam position. Try as his might, The Jackrabbit's back will not allow him to lift the full weight of his opponent up into the air; and therefore he falls victim to a hiptoss from Talon, sending JR down upon his back once again. Immediately sitting up on his rear end proves to be a mistake for The Jackrabbit as Talon comes in from behind to punt him flush upon the base of his spine, and he is paralyzed for that moment as he absorbs the shock through every inch of his body. Seeing no progress from The Jackrabbit, Talon moves back in to deliver a second kick which is much like the first; but the result is way different. This one jolts life into The Jackrabbit as he rolls off his rear to get up to a knee, staring up at Talon who is a bit puzzled but not in the least bit hesitant. He fires a downward forearm shiv to JR's face, trying to keep him where he is but it seems to be no use as The Jackrabbit pushes himself from his knees to his feet and now the two rivals go nose-to-nose. Literally, their noses are touching and their eyes locked in a staredown despite the height difference and the crowd could not be happier. The Jackrabbit dips his head forward for a short headbutt that backs Talon off a step, allowing him to come in for a lifting knee to the stomach; grabbing Talon's right arm and trapping it as he swings around, delivering a stunning neckbreaker in the middle of the ring. Coming off the move The Jackrabbit acts as if nothing has changed and strives to get up to his feet as fast as possible, knowing that wasn't enough to keep his opponent down for long. Hovering over Talon, JR only moves back when he sees physical progress by his opponent; and once Talon gets to his feet he is swarmed by The Jackrabbit, sending both men into one of the corners. Fighting as hard has can Talon throws downward blows upon JR's back, but he brushes them off in favor of driving his right shoulder into Talon's abdomen repeatedly. He does so until Talon stops fighting him, and then he ups the ante by hoisting his opponent up to a seat on the top rope; moving both of his legs over the top ring cable to dangle outside of the ring. Not letting the moment get to him The Jackrabbit climbs up the corner as fast as he can, taking hold of his opponent's head to bring Talon up to join him in a stance on the top rope. Things are getting very intense with both competitors on the top ring rope, balanced in front of one another, and inexplicably they begin trading forearms; with Talon getting the first one in, and Jackrabbit firing back. Still they stay stood up on their perch, mostly anchored by one another, but that doesn't stop them from going at it once more when JR hits his opponent with a punch to the gut. As if he doesn't feel it Talon strikes back with a fist of his own, this one to the face of JR which nearly sends him toppling backwards into the middle of the ring. Maybe by luck alone The Jackrabbit keeps himself up on the top rope in front of Talon and is just about to go back to war with him when Talon looses his footing. With both arms he grabs onto The Jackrabbit as a last ditch effort, pulling him out of his stable stance.

Bobby Shavonie - MOVE NICK!

The two men come flying off the top rope together, side by side, and crash straight through the commentary table; sending shards of wood flying in every direction, as the fans leap up and down with their excitement. Both Bobby and Nick got away, with their wireless headsets intact, but they are stunned at the massacre that is at their feet. OWF Official Calvin Mills hops out of the ring and finds both men unresponsive, and starts to call for EMT's to head down to the ring.

Nick Burst - Oh shit, this isn't good. You never want to see anyone get hurt...

Bobby Shavonie - Never. But what happens if they both can't continue?

Nick Burst - I... I don't know.

Talon and The Jackrabbit may have lost consciousness for a bit there, but when a camera man comes in close he sees that they are just beginning to stir. Their movements to get back to their feet are very slow which allows the medical staff plenty of time to head to ringside, to massive boo's from the crowd. Mills moves out of the way, allowing them to tend to The Jackrabbit first; but he shoves them away, rolling over onto his hands and knees in a ton of pain. As the EMT's move over to Talon he isn't as nice as he cracks one of the male members of the staff with a back elbow, trying to get them out of the way of his goal. The referee still hasn't called for the end of the match, so technically it continues while the medical crew hangs around still focused on getting these two men out of here for an evaluation as soon as possible. Nobody dares get near either man and eventually the referee waves off the medical staff, allowing this contest to continue. The fans are absolutely thrilled by this decision and they get loud again, all remaining on their feet trying to get the best look they can at ringside. Pulling himself towards the guardrail The Jackrabbit grabs onto it with both hands and uses it as a crutch to get himself up to his knees, showing that his arms have been cut up a bit by the broken pieces of wood from the table. A few feet away Talon resorts to using one of the chairs that either Bobby or Nick were sitting in to get himself up onto his feet; bent over at the waist with his palms of the seat of the chair. His legs nearly give out on him as he achieves this but he manages to stay upright, while The Jackrabbit continues to make progress towards returning to a standing position. It doesn't seem like either man is aware of what their opponent is up to and this raises the tension level when Talon throws the steel chair to the side, and drops to a knee gasping for air. At that moment JR gets up to his feet and spins himself around, leaning his back up against the guard rail and now finally they lock eyes on one another yet again. Trying to get as much speed going as he can The Jackrabbit, on wobbily legs, comes forward at his opponent and goes for a clothesline once Talon pushes himself upright. He lays it in hard across the chest of his opponent and Talon is sent backwards into the side of the ring; which is the only thing keeping him standing at his point. Sensing a bit of an advantage JR comes back at Talon, leaping up in the air a bit looking for a body splash to pin him against the unprotected edge of the apron but Talon is prepared; lifting The Jackrabbit up trying to get him caught up in the ropes. He fails to pull it off as Jackrabbit lands on both feed on the edge of the ring apron outside of the ropes and kicks his right boot backwards, catching Talon flush in his face. The boot nearly sends him down to the concrete floor but he manages to stay upright. With a glance over his right shoulder The Jackrabbit establishes just how far away his opponent is before he leaps up to the middle rope, performing a moonsault off of it and directing himself down towards Talon; but it gets countered when he crashes down upon the right shoulder of his opponent, as Talon drops to a knee and maintains a front powerslam hold on JR as he rises up to his feet. Like a javelin Talon throws JR face-first into the nearest steel ring post, causing him to crash down to the concrete floor in a heap where he flops around like a fish out of water. Using this lull in the action wisely Talon rolls himself back into the ring under the bottom rope where he remains on his back, looking to the rafters as he tries to regulate his breathing. The referee remains on the outside checking on The Jackrabbit who is moving around, but isn't responding to his questions; but Calvin Mills does the right thing, and lets the match go on.

In firm support of The Jackrabbit the crowd cheers his name out loud, stomping their feet and clapping their hands but it does JR no good as he works at his own pace to roll towards the ring. Using both hands he grabs onto the skirt of the apron and pulls his body upwards, peeking his head up over the edge of the apron to see Talon now rolling onto his side in the process of standing himself back to his feet. This motivates and energizes The Jackrabbit more than anything else could, and he goes from the apron skirt to reaching up to the bottom rope. Pulling himself up he barely gets his right knee cap onto the edge of the apron, while Talon has it as easy as ever moving to his feet. When he notices his opponent is making strides to join him back in the ring Talon jerks to action, rising to a standing position and walking briskly to the ring ropes that Jackrabbit is outside of; reaching over the top ring cable to grab him around the head. It's hard work but Talon enjoys using his strength to pull JR upright, but at the last second Jackrabbit reaches up to grab Talon around the back of his head now; then falls off the edge of the apron, bringing his opponent's throat across the top rope. This chokes Talon up and sends him stumbling around in a circle towards the middle of the ring, giving The Jackrabbit plenty of time to rejoin him inside of the squared circle. Instead JR goes for the same path he was just taking, moving up to the apron's edge where he stands for a brief second; waiting for his opponent to turn around. The moment Talon does JR dips his upper body under the top rope, and kicks his right leg over the middle rope; using his right foot to step on the bottom ring cable inside of the ring. Using that as a spring he projects himself towards the midsection of Talon and performs a beautiful spear from between the ring ropes from the apron's edge, tackling him down to the canvas and sending the crowd into a frenzy. The two former tag team partners, now mortal enemies, lay side by side near the center of the squared circle as the referee rejoins the madness inside of the ring a second or two later.

Nick Burst - These two had a fucking war at Brawltopia back in November, and they've surpassed that one already. How much more can they give? What the fuck is it going to take for these two men to stop beating the hell out of each other, and try to win?

Bobby Shavonie - I don't think that's a question either of us can answer. I guess when they feel the time is right.

Nick Burst - Bobby, we're fucking standing here with no table to speak of. My scotch is all over the floor, and both men are down. It's time, in my mind.

Bobby Shavonie - None of that is lost on me Nick. I'm as shocked at what is going on as you are. We've seen these two men tear each other apart, not leaving much for the later rounds it seems.

Nick Burst - And that could prove to be a mistake, but I don't think that thought has crossed their minds.

Already knowing what they are going to say, the OWF Official doesn't even bother checking on either man; instead he hangs back, just waiting for them to return to the fight. The fans are absolutely with Calvin Mills with this and they watch intently as both individuals begin to show signs of life. The Jackrabbit rolls himself over onto his stomach so that he can start to get himself up to his hands and knees, keeping his head up to watch Talon's every move. Talon on the other hand is having a hard time catching his breath and is only focused on improving that, choosing to sit himself up to give a clear pathway for the air down into his lungs. Seeing this The Jackrabbit decides he is going to stand himself up under his own power and that decision costs him valuable seconds, and a lot of energy, but he accomplishes it. He doesn't waste another second, coming in to aid Talon back to his feet under his arms; then underhooking both of them, pulling his opponent towards his chest. Not going to go that easily all Talon can do is swing himself away from Jackrabbit, collapsing down to his knees with his back to JR; who promptly approaches from behind. Taking hold of his opponent's arms again, The Jackrabbit butterflies them behind Talon's back and uses them to rise him back up to his feet with no real intention of performing anything at this time. That costs him as again Talon breaks loose from JR's grasp, but this time he jerks his body towards the ring ropes; hitting them with his right side, sending himself running back towards The Jackrabbit. A swift boot to the gut stops Talon dead where he stands and allows Jackrabbit to obtain a hold of his opponent's right arm, tucking it between his own legs into a pumphandle slam position. This time The Jackrabbit is able to summon whatever strength he was holding onto and hoists Talon up over his shoulder, then sits out to drive his head straight down into the mat with The Lunatic Fringe. The crowd knows this is a big deal but their excitement is cut short when they see The Jackrabbit unable to do anything to improve his current standing after the big move, laying on his side having maybe spent too much of his reserves. Cradling his head in his forearms Talon is in a world of hurt and remains laid out on his back as the fans try to persuade The Jackrabbit to continue with his offensive, but his body just isn't cooperating with what his mind wants to do. Still he fights with whatever he can to push himself up to his hands and knees, crawling around to head towards Talon; presumably to go for a pinfall cover. Turns out that's about all he can muster up as he lays out across the chest of his opponent, his right arm barely draped over Talon's throat, but it brings the referee in to make the count. 1... 2... Talon kicks out and this sends Jackrabbit rolling over onto his back looking up in the air trying to collect himself as quickly as possible. Moving up onto his right hip JR digs the point of his right elbow into the mat and he shoves himself upwards, getting to his knees where he stops to catch his breath. Awoken by the potential pinfall from his opponent, Talon simply goes to sit himself up; turning his head to make sure he is clued in on every movement The Jackrabbit makes.

The two men are at about the same position on the mat for maybe a second, before The Jackrabbit stands up from his knees; leaving Talon behind on his. It's not easy for The Jackrabbit to keep himself on his feet but he manages, then turns himself around on steady feet to stare at his opponent. Almost resided to his fate Talon motions for JR to bring it on and it doesn't take anything more than that to get Jackrabbit moving forward. His speed isn't what you could consider fast but it carries enough momentum so that when Talon rolls out of the way, The Jackrabbit has to turn so that his back hits the ropes; rebounding off of them while he tries to put on the brakes. He's too late as he is crushed with a big boot from a now-standing Talon, followed by a flawless axekick to the back of the head which flattens The Jackrabbit to his stomach. After hitting The End of Reason, Talon collapses to his hands and knees and does his best to roll The Jackrabbit over onto his back; but it is no easy task. He expends a ton of effort just flattening out JR before he lays across his stomach in a lateral press; unable to hook a leg. Diving inward the referee checks the shoulders, then counts them down to the mat. 1... 2... Now The Jackrabbit kicks out, and it's Talon who is stunned and worn out. Yet he doesn't give up, digging his fingertips into the mat to drag himself away from The Jackrabbit who is completely motionless right now. Thinking of doing the impossible Talon stirs up the crowd as he heads to the nearest corner and uses his arms to ascend the turnbuckles from inside of the ring. He's determined and he's able to will himself up to his feet where he hoists himself up to lay his stomach on the top turnbuckle rung; then pushes himself up into a crouching position. He nearly loses his balance and it's hard to tell if he ever retains it again, even has he stands himself up tall; the top ring cable shaking violently under his feet. Extending both of his arms horizontally away from his body, Talon takes one last look down at JR as he prepares for Death From Above.

Just as Talon is about to come off the top rope The Jackrabbit rolls his body upwards, hobbled like a drunken man, but he hits the ropes. This causes Talon to lose his balance and he crotches himself on the top turnbuckle, with The Jackrabbit using the ropes to drag his body to the corner. With his opponent bent over a bit The Jackrabbit stands up on the bottom rope and tucks his own head down; using his back to lift Talon upside down, belly-to-back, with his head dangling above the mat. Just as he's about to fall backwards for The Last Laugh, the over the back sitout piledriver, Talon stops his forward progress by locking both of his arms around The Jackrabbit's waist. The crowd realizes what is going on before the commentary team, or even the viewers at home, can pick up on; as Talon swings himself back down to a seat on the top rope. With the last drops of strength he has in his body Talon pulls The Jackrabbit up to a seat on his shoulders then falls forward off the top ring cable; hitting a devastating top rope powerbomb, the result of which is him laying on top of JR's abdomen.

Nick Burst - HOLY FUCKING SHIT!

The referee is unsure of what to do, but when he sees Talon's positioning he deems it a pinfall; sliding in feet-first to make the count at Jackrabbit's shoulders. 1... 2... 3!

Missy Janson - The winner of this match and moving on to the Semifinal Round of the 2014 Quest For The Best Tournament... TALON!

Nick Burst - Talon just hit a desperation move, and it worked. Fuck, man.

Bobby Shavonie - A match you had to see to believe. A war, as you called it.

Nick Burst - The Jackrabbit and Talon could have flipped a coin tonight, and you would have had better odds of predicting this one. They were going back and forth in what may have been the longest match so far tonight, but also the most devastating.

Bobby Shavonie - There's clear evidence of that, and for some reason I don't think this is going to be over just yet.

Nick Burst - Probably not. Talon barely got by The Jackrabbit tonight... It took a killer move to get him the win, but then again neither of them were looking for the win for a majority of that match; which further proves my point of this being more about personal issues than wins and losses.

Both men aren't in the best of shape in the ring, leaving the referee to hang out a bit longer as members of the ring crew rush down the ramp ready to erect a new commentary table. Talon stirs first and his next move is to roll out of the ring, collapsing to his knees on the concrete floor outside of the ring.

Bobby Shavonie - While that may be true, Talon did win; and now he moves on to the Semifinals to take on Nicholas Perry.

Nick Burst - Hopefully he gets a bit of a break between now and then. Or is it better for him to start his next match right now?

Bobby Shavonie - I think if he's up next in the first semifinal, Talon has no chance of making it to the Finals. He took a lot of heat in this match, and if he wants to be at even 75% he needs to rest up.

Nick Burst - And the thing is, Talon at 75% is good enough to beat just about anyone in this promotion.

He uses the edge of the ring apron to stand up and he looks inside of the ring at The Jackrabbit, who is sitting himself up in a load of pain glaring at Talon outside of the ring as he heads towards the ramp.

Bobby Shavonie - We'll see if that's true, as we take a quick break before we get things set up back here at the commentary booth; and bring you the Semifinals of the 2014 Quest For The Best Tournament!
