Around this same time, Melina had been talking to Jeremy, the guy who had been next to us when the railing collapsed at the Deftones' show in Atlanta.  I believe Melina found Jeremy on the Deftones message board and told him that we had also been backstage at the Fort Mill SC show with him.  Melina and Jeremy started talking on AIM and became buddies.  Now Jeremy is friends with another Atlanta band called Fold.  Fold is friends with [minus].   Fold was playing a show in late December 2000/Early January 2001 and Jeremy wanted Melina to go.  So she did.  There she met Jordan for the first time, who she had emailed before and talked to a little bit online.  I had also talked to Jordan a few times online, and so when I went to see [minus] on saturday january 6th, 2001, he already knew who i was.  Now Melina tells me that this is also the first time that Jeremy met the rest of [minus].  He didn't know them before that show, but he got intrduced to them through Fold, because he was helping them set up.  People think it's funny when I tell them that I've met most of my friends because of [minus] and Deftones but it's the truth!  Because if I wasn't a Deftones fan, I would've never met Melina, never would've gone to the International Ballroom show, nor would I have been backstage at the Fort Mill show.  And if none of that had happened, Melina would've never started talking to Jeremy. And if we hadn't see [minus] open for Kittie, who knows if or when we would have seen them.  Life is very funny sometimes.
Anyway, [minus] were great that night.  Melina and I got their EP "Elevator" for $5 and I listened to that cd all the damn time. I absolutely loved it. In no time, I knew all the words (or at least the words as I heard them).  [minus] are an incredibly talented band.  They ALWAYS put on amazing live shows because they are full of so much energy. Jordan interacts with the crowd and always eager to let us sing along with him into the mic.  Dusty rocks out on his guitar as Matt beats the hell out of of his drums.. Matt is just an insane drummer. His arms just fly everywhere. It's not uncommon to see blood running down his hands during a [set] because he's drumming so damn hard.

[minus] are often compared to bands like Far, Incubus, and Deftones.  While these bands have indeed influenced them, [minus] still maintain a sound and style uniquely their own.  Their music is passionate, melodic, and intense.  They are definitely one of my favorite bands, and most certainly some of the coolest guys around.  They make me proud to be from the ATL
