| In the months prior to his death, Jeff had been working on material for a new album. His mother gathered up the songs he had been working on, and they were released on a double disc cd entitled Sketches For My Sweetheart The Drunk. This album is full of several really amazing songs. All of these songs were just demos Jeff had recorded, meaning that they weren't even fully completed. The fact that these songs are so good not only shows you what an amazing musician Jeff was, but it makes you wonder what he would've done if he had been given the opportunity to see these songs through to the end, perfecting them until he was completely satisfied with their final results. If only. Even though Jeff never put out a bunch of albums, the work he did do when he was alive is outstanding. The few songs and words he left us with managed to have a great affect on many people. And as the years go on, and other people discover Jeff Buckley for themselves, they will always realize that here was a man way ahead of his time, and gone much too soon. |
