A History of Mega Man

Mega Man

In the beginning, the world was a happy place. It was far into the future, and many new technologies had come about. One of them, was the creation of humanoid type robots, by Dr. Thomas Wright, and his assisstant, Dr. Wily (not sure on his first name. If anyone knows, please tell me.). Soon, robots began to become a common sight on this world, helping people with groceries, cleaning parks, and much more. Dr. Wright had just finished building a whole new brand of robobts to help with construction, etc., when he was confronted by Dr. Wily. Dr. Wily proposed that since they were 2 of the most brilliant minds on the planet, that they should design a whole new batch of robots to take over the world. Dr. Wright, being the all around nice guy that he is, told Dr. Wily that that was a crazy idea. Dr. Wily, however, took exception to that. Eventually, Dr. Wily took control of Dr. Wright's new robots, and began to wreak havoc on the world. Dr. Wright, in an effort to stop Wily, built a new robot, stronger and better then any of his previous creations. He called this new robot: Mega Man.

Mega Man 1:

In Mega Man 1 for the NES, Mega Man set out to stop Wily from conquering the world with Dr. Wright's newest robots: Iceman, Gutsman, Bombman, Elecman, Fireman, and Cutman. After disposing of these fiends, and taking their powers,  he learned that all this time, Wily had been building a castle for himself. Knowing that he had to save the world (and that he couldn't have any dinner if he didn't), he quickly began his climb of Wily's tower. Wily had set up many more traps and tricks inside his magnificent castle, but Mega Man was able to conquer them all. Mega Man soon reached the top of the tower, and came face to face with the evil doctor himself. A brutal fight insued, in which Mega Man came out victorious, and Wily was defeated. Defeated yes, finished, not at all.

Mega Man 2:

In Mega Man 2 for the NES, Mega Man was enjoying his leisure time, ever since he had defeated Wily. Even Dr. Wright was happy, changing his name to Light because he thought he would become a chick magnet. But happiness was not to last, however, because soon, darkness fell over the city, and 8 robots descended from the sky and began destroying the city. Dr. Light new this had to be the work of Dr. Wily, and sent Mega Man off again. He quickly learned that these new robots were not near as easy as the ones he had faced last time. He quickly battled through Bubbleman, Quickman, Flashman, Crashman, Airman, Woodman, Metalman, and Heatman, and once again stealing there powers, he came upon a new castle built just for Wily. Once again he began to climb it, and with the help of several new gadgets he had accumulated through each of the robot's stages, he made it to the top. He found Wily laughing his head off again, and another fight ensued between the ferocious doctor and the good-natured Mega Man, with Mega Man, comming out victorious.

Mega Man 3:

Peace had set upon the world once again. Dr. Light had built a new robot dog sidekick for Mega Man, called Rush, a new brother called Protoman to help Mega Man, and he had enhanced Mega Man so that he was able to slide. However, once again, peace was not to last, as Dr. Wily reared his ugly head once again, and brought 8 new robots upon the city: Magnetman, Hardman, Topman, Shadowman, Sparkman, Snakeman, Geminiman, and Needleman. With his new companion Rush, who could transform into a submarine, a jet, and a type of spring thing that could boost Mega Man up to high places, and his new slide ability, Mega Man disposed of his enemies, and prepared to enter Wily's new castle. However, as he was about to step through the door, he heard more cries for help comming from the city. He quickly ent back and saw that the robots he had previously defeated in Mega Man 2 had returned! So he once again battle the robots, and disoposed of them. He once again climbed Wily's castle and reached the top. And he once again fought Wily and won. Or so he thought. He then realized that the Wily he had just fought was just a robot! Realizing he still had more work to do, he searched the castle for Wily, and finally found him. Another duel came about, with good ole Mega Man prevailing.

Mega Man 4:

With Dr. Wily in hiding, Mega Man began to wonder what exactly he should do now? Pick some posies maybe? Or how bout help out some defenseless animals? Nah, our super hero wouldn't do something at all like that. But before he could even think about it, another evil once again threatened the world. This time, it was a newcomer by the name of Dr. Cossack (what's with all the doctors?!?!). So Mega Man decided, since he had nothing better to do, that he would stop this doctor. So he set out to destroy the 8 new robots, Pharoahman, Toadman, Diveman, Ringman, Brightman, Skullman, Dustman, and Drillman. With the help of their powers, and 2 new enhancements called the wire and balloon that he found hidden in the stages, he finally made it to Cossack's castle, and defeated him. Dr. Cossack then confessed to Mega Man that he was only being evil because Dr. Wily had kidnapped his daughter! Then, Proto Man showed up, saying he had just rescued his daughter! With renewed vigor and a determination to stop Wily, he once again set out on his quest to stop Wily. After once again climbing through Wily's tower, he fought and defeated Wily, once again ending his reign of evil terror.

Mega Man 5:
(Be kind with me on this one, I havn't played Mega Man 5 in a very LONG time)

Once again, enjoying his temporary 5 minutes of peace, Mega Man began to settle down for a long needed period of R&R. It didn't last long, however, as a new force began to wreak havoc on the city. Mega Man quickly ran to the source of the trouble, and found it to be none other than his so called brother, Proto Man! Mega Man tried to stop Proto Man, but Proto Man quickly fled the scene. Mega Man then found out the Proto Man wasn't alone in his little rampage. 8 more robots had been helping him destroy buildings a terrorize innocent citizens: Stoneman, Gravityman, Waveman, Gyroman, Starman, Chargeman, Crystalman and Napalmman. Mega Man quickly set out to destroy these evil fiends with the help of his dog, Rush, and his new bird friend, Beat. With thier help, he soon came face to face with the good-guy gone bad-guy, Proto Man himself. But, as Mega Man soon discovered, it wasn't Proto Man, it was just a clone created by...guess who!!... Dr. Wily!!! So once again, Mega Man set out to stop the nefarious doctor, and with help from the true Proto Man, once again put a stop to Wily's evil deeds.

Mega Man 6:

As Mega Man sat in his recliner in Dr. Light's lab, reading magazines and watching TV, he saw a commercial for a new robot competition being held by a mysterious man named Mr. X. "Wow!" thought Mega Man. "That would be fun to see." So Mega Man quickly got up and headed over to the tournament site. No sooner had the tournament begun, when the robots began going crazy and attacking innocent civilians. Mega Man quickly called upon his dog Rush, and his bird Beat, and zoomed off. While Mega Man was heading towards the his new enemies headquarters, he recieved a call from Dr. Light saying that he had enhanced Rush, and that he could access these new enhancments by defeating certain bosses. Mega Man then zoomed off and defeated his new foes: Blizzardman, Flameman, Plantman, Centaurman, Knightman, Windman, Tomahawkman, and Yamatoman. After defeating all these evil, not nice robots, the mysterious Mr. X revealed himself. He turned out to be....wow, big surprise comming...Dr. Wily!!! Wily once again zoomed off to his new and unimproved castle. Mega Man quickly followed him, climbed the castle, conquering all it's hazards, and finally, defeated Dr. Wily again. But this time he did something....DIFFERENT. He did something he had never thought to do... He arrested Dr. Wily!!! So with Wily in jail, Mega Man was ready to enjoy a much needed vacation...

Mega Man 7:

Mega Man was cruzeing down the road in his pickup with his sister Roll and his new friend Auto the machine builder thing, when they saw 4 robots streak across the sky. Decideing tot follow the high speed robots, they quickly turned around and went after them. However, the robots were much to fast for the pickup, and they ended up losing them. That didn't stop the trio though, and they continued in the direction the robots were headed. After a couple of blocks, they came upon the inner section of the city, which had been consumed in total destruction. Figuring this had been the work of the robots they had seen, they attempted to find the robots, and ended up across the lake from the city jail. They looked at the jail, and saw the robots fly into it, and begin more of their destructive rampage. Soon, they fled the scene, and a little pod-like machine flew out of the once-was jail. It hovered for a second, and flew over to Mega Man and crew. The top half opened up to reveal...Dr. Wily!! Wily scoffed at Mega Man for thinking he could contain him in a jail, and he flew off to restart his plot for world takeover. Mega Man quickly put on his shiny blue helmet, and took off after him. He ran through the city until he reached the end of the happy trail, where he came upon a new robot. The robot introduced himself as Bass, and quickly attacked Mega Man. After a fierce fight, Mega Man defeated Bass, and Bass vowed that he would return to fight Mega Man another day. (Uh oh!!!) Mega Man, then  began to hunt down the 4 robots he had scene: Cloudman, Junkman, Freezeman, and Burstman. He quickly put an end to their evil reign, when 4 more robots reared their ugly heads to challange Mega Man! They were: Slashman, Springman, Turboman, and Shademan. He also defeated them, and ran off to climb Dr. Wily's new castle. He climbed and climbed and climbed until finally he confronted the evil, nefarious, unnice, mean ole Dr. Wily. They had a long and rough battle, more difficult then Mega Man had ever been in with him before. In the end, though, Mega Man defeated the doctor and restored peace to the city.

Mega Man 8:

Bass is back! And he's running amock through the city, destroying things left and right. Mega Man is called out to stop him, and a grueling fight scene insues (it's pretty niceo n Playstation, since the have anime scenes). Soon after, Mega Man is called by Dr. Light to investigate a meteor crash that seems to be emitting some strange energy waves. Mega Man reluctantly leaves the battle, and flies over to a small island (this si where actual play begins). He makes his way across it, and finds a huge robot in his way. He quickly defeats it, and continues on. A very short time later, he comes across a huge crater, with a podlike craft flying out of it. No...it's not aliens comming to give blow up the world, it's...Dr. Wily again!! He berates Mega Man for a short bit, and then leaves, carrying what looks like a strange type of purple energy. He then climbs the crater, and peers down inside to see what looks to be the crumpled form of a blue-green robot. He calls Dr. Light and reports his findings to him. Dr. Light then offers too take care of the robot, while Mega Man goes off to fight 4 new robots that have appeared recently. He quickly deafeats Frostman, Clownman, Tenguman, and Grenademan. As he defeats these robots, he finds pieces of the evil energy that he saw before come out of the robots. He quickly rushes these to Dr. Light, who says he will do an analysis on them right away. As they sleep that night, the robot that was Dr. Light was taking care of breaks out of the lab. In the morning, Mega Man discovers the robot is gone, and he chases after it. He ends up finding the robot, and they battle, with Mega Man comming out the victor. The robot tells Mega Man that he is out to destroy the evil energy, and that he has traced it back to Wily's castle. He tells Mega Man that he will concetrate on finding a way into the castle, while Mega Man takes care of the other 4 robots still causing destruciton around the world. Mega Man quickly defeats the other robots: Searchman, Aquaman, Swordman, and Astroman, and goes off to defeat Wily once again. He climbs the tower and soon comes face to face with Dr. Wily. He faces off against the evil doctor in a classic battle in 32 bit graphics, and in a spectacular show of happiness, Mega Man prevails!!
