Donations needed for a last try 4 a baby
Hello. My name is Lori and my husband is Arthur. We have been married almost 17 years. We have wanted a child since the very beginning of our marriage. Through the 17 years I have been to several doctors trying to figure out why I was not getting pregnant. Many years of seeing different doctors and none of them could tell me why I was not conceiving. In 1998 I went to a local Ob/Gyn. She told me that I have all the symptoms of Stein-Leventhal Syndrome. I did not understand what this meant and once she put me on birth control pills I did not care anymore. In my mind I was thinking, I came here to ask her to help me get pregnant and she sticks me on birth control pills. I knew that being on birth control pills that I would not get pregnant. I never did go back to her. Going to my regular Ob/Gyn for my regular yearly check-ups I was told I had PCOS. PCOS is the same syndrome as the Stein_Leventhal Syndrome. So I did some research on PCOS. I have all the symptoms of the PCOS. PCOS stands for polycystic ovarian syndrome. PCOS is a medical condition in which women experience irregular or absent menstrual bleeding, impaired fertility, miscarriage, hair and skin problems, obesity, abnormal insulin actions and heart disease. In these women, the ovaries are slightly enlarged and contain multiple small cysts which have led to the descriptive term, polycystic ovaries. Through my Ob/Gyn , he put me on clomiphene-citrate, which is usually taken as a tablet for 5 days starting around the 3rd to 5th day of menstruation. Results show that 4 out of 5 woman given clomiphene do ovulate, but only about 1 in 3 actually become pregnant. I myself did not respond to these pills at all. He explained to me that my best option would be to see a doctor who specializes in infertility. This type of doctor is called a Reproductive Endocrinologist {RE}. The next day I called my insurance company to find out if they covered infertility. I was told that they would cover 3 tries at IUI which is intrauterine insemination, which is the insertion of sperm, which have been carefully washed and prepared, directly into the uterus. I found a RE on my list of doctors from my insurance. The 1st thing he wanted to try was the clomiphene pills again. He put me on 4 pills a day. I did not respond to these pills at all. The doctor then told me about some fertility drugs called gonadotropins.  These drugs are injectable drugs. My insurance did not cover these. We had to come up with the money to get $1500.00 worth of medicines. Once we got these medicines, we would do the inseminations. We were able to raise the money to try this one time. On July 9th and July 10th I was inseminated. This resulted in a negative pregnancy test. After this attempt we could not afford to try again. Also my husbands work was going to change the insurance at the end of the year. So we waited to see if this new insurance would cover anything with infertility. To our surprised they covered IUI and IVF. IVF is performed in the laboratory, in vitro {in glass} fertilization involves the removal of eggs from the ripe follicles and their fertilized by sperm cells outside the human body. The insurance would also cover the injectable fertility drugs we would need. The insurance would cover $5000.00 worth.  I once again found me an RE on the approved list and made our appointment. After meeting with him, he said that I was a poor responder to the injectable medicines so he wanted to go into this strong. I figured, no problem, my insurance covers all of this including the medicines. When I called the pharmacy with my prescriptions, I was told that my balance after the $5000.00 my insurance paid was around $1800.00. I was in shock. Once again we had to raise the money. We were able to do this and we just knew this would work for us. It was in August of 2002 when we did our 1st IVF. With these medicines I grew 6 eggs. From these I had 4 fertilize. We put all 4 embryos back. This also ended in a negative pregnancy. Our insurance would cover 3 tries at IVF. But they only pay a life time of $5000.00 for the medicines.  I was very hurt from my negative result so I took a break from all of the infertility stuff. Then we were informed that at the end of the year the medical insurance was going to change again. I became desperate. I wanted at least one more try since we did have the coverage for this. The only problem was finding the money for all these medicines I need. I was willing to give up anything to get my medicines. So I came up with a plan. I decided to sell all my collectibles on ebay that I had been collecting over the years. In just 3 weeks I made $1000.00 on ebay. I knew this was not even close to the amount of money I needed to by my medicines. I new of a site where other women sold their left over medicines at. I went there and I was very lucky. I was able to find the amount of medicines I needed for the money I had. So in November of 2002 we were going to do our 2nd attempt at IVF. This time I grew 8 eggs. Five of these fertilized and since I knew this was out absolutely last chance I decided to put all 5 embryos back in. This also turn into a negative result. With the new medical insurance, they do not cover anything at all dealing with infertility. We would love one last try at this. It is both of our life long dreams to be parents. I want more than anything to feel a baby growing inside of me. I would love a child that is part me and part my husband. There is a medical procedure that can be done called assisted hatching that would give the embryos a much better chance of implanting into my uterus. There is no way financially we can afford this again. This is why I made this web page. Hoping that those of you who find this page will want to help us. I am wanting to try and raise some money through donations to try the IVF one last time.  All this money received will go directly on medicines needed & to the doctor and hospital to pay for the procedure. Anyone who would like to help us to try one last time for our dreams please send any kind of donation to our paypal account. The paypal address is [email protected]
THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS.
