March 30 - April 15, 1945

Things running fairly smooth having trouble with lice, horrible things, causing me considerable worry because of the danger of Typhus.  Managing to keep them checked by airing blankets every day, washing clothes regularly and having a complete wash down nightly.

April 7 was Joe's wedding anniversary or at least that is the day he thinks it was that he made the fatal plunge.

On April 12, 400 Luft personnel were prepared to evacuate officers and NCO's took them down to Ludenwalde to board box cars, unable to leave as their route south was blocked by American armies.
Note:  Later word got out that this was an order from Hitler (who is said to have had a special hate for Airforce Personnel) to take us into Bavaria where we would be exterminated by whatever means his depraved mind might fancy.

I have read a book on farm management by Robert Hudleson, some quite good points of which I want to remember so I'll jot them down.
(1)  The careful planning of farm buildings so as to have everything convenient to save man hours on farm chores.
(2)  The value of an efficient crop rotation, to have as many fields as there are in the crop rotation as near as possible to the same size.
(3)  To have a table, with each month in the year, and have the work to be done, marked (F) fixed, (SF) semi fixed, (M) moveable made in three sections, crops, livestock, miscellaneous.
(4)  To have an efficiently laid out work shop, and to tag implements after use with any troubles to be fixed in slack season.
