| Summary of Events and Information April 1, 1917 Trenenes Cambligneul Weather ~ wet Wind ~ N. W. Whole battalion went over practise rounds in morning. Carry in with company training in the afternoon. Casualties ~ Nil April 2, 1917 Cambligneul Weather ~ Fine Wind ~ N. W. Officers and N. C. O.'s of "A" and "D" Companies went to Divisional Headquarters, Econivres, to see relief map of enemy trenches in the morning. Those of "C" and "D" Companies went in the afternoon. Remainder of Battalion carried out Company training. Casualties ~ Nil April 3, 1917 Camblignuel Weather ~ Raw and cold Wind ~ Northerly Practise over flagged practise ground in morning ~ came off well. Conference of G. O. C., Bd Major and Commanding Officer in HQ's Mess afterwards. Casualties ~ Nil April 4, 1917 Cambilnuel Weather ~ Rainy Wind ~ North A rehearsal on the flagged area was planned with mounted men to represent the barrages ~ owing to bad weather it was cancelled. Casualties ~ Nil April 5, 1917 Trenches Weather ~ Fine Wind ~ East We vacated billets in Camblignuel. C. O. with Major Campbell and Lieutenant Ansell went to trenches. "A" and "B" Companies holding the line. Battalion H. Q. at A.22.a.9.2, which is to be our battle headquarters for attack. Remainder of the Battalion occupied billets in Ecoivres. "A" and "B" Companies reconnoitred their assembly positions in front of Bonnal Trench during the night. 25 O. R.'s Reinforcements arrived. Casualties ~ Nil April 6, 1917 Trenches Weather ~ Windy and disagreeable Wind ~ N. E. Trenches very muddy. It was expected that "C" and "D" companies would relieve "A" and "B" in the line, but as Zero Day was postponed 24 hours, the order for relief was cancelled. Lieutenant Murray evacuated with shrapnel wound in the thigh. Casualties ~ Nil |
