Getting There
Ferry

The property lies about 50 miles due south of Caen.

Brittany Ferries sails several times a day between Portsmouth and  Ouistreham, the port about about 10 miles north of Caen. The journey to the cottage takes less than an hour and a half.

There are regular crossings between Cherbourg, Poole and Portsmouth, It is a distance of 120 miles, a two and a half hour easy drive.

P&O operate regular services between Portsmouth and Le Havre.  It is about 80 miles from Le Havre to the cottage.

The crossing from Portsmouth takes six hours, and about four and a half hours to Cherbourg.

During the Summer months Brittany Ferries operates a fast boat from Poole to Cherbourg, which takes only two and half hours.

Our favourite journey is to go by Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth on the overnight crossing which leaves at 11.15 p.m. and arrives at Ouistreham at 6 in the morning. You then arrive at the cottage by 8 a.m, with a full day ahead.

We always book a cabin, with WC - it's much more civilised.

Tunnel

The drive from the Channel Tunnel is about 300 miles and takes 5 hours.

RyanAir have introduced flights from Stansted to Dinard near St.Malo, for about 80 return. It is then a drive of about 2 hours

It is a drive of 3 hours from the Paris airports.
