Membershiplargest division of the Louisiana Counseling Association and an affiliate of the American Counseling Association chartered division of the American School Counselor Association professional organization composed of public and private school counselors, K-12 and post-secondary whose purposes are concerned with YOU, the school counselor, and YOUR needs professional organization serving its membership in all academic work settings, elementary through post-secondary resource for ethical concerns, professional development, and skill building professional counseling organization in Louisiana concerned exclusively with the school counselors professional organization through which school counselors on all levels can establish and improve the standards of school counseling as a profession professional organization collaborating with the State Department of Education on issues related to school counseling professional organization maintaining and monitoring legislative action related to school counselors and counseling Membership is open to anyone who is associated with or concerned about school counseling. - To foster a close personal and professional relationship among school counselors in Louisiana, public and private, and with counselors in other settings.
- To advance the profession of counseling in order to maximize the educational/academic, occupational, and personal-social growth of each individual.
- To improve the standards of school counseling and the relationships with other personnel services for students in elementary, middle and/or junior high, secondary and post-secondary setting.
- To assume an active role in helping people to understand and improve such services.
- To develop, implement, and foster interest in career development programs.
- To publish scientific, educational, and professional materials.

- Maintain contact with District Superintendents
- Maintain working relationship with Louisiana Department of Education and establish and maintain a relationship with Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and Louisiana Community and Technical College System
- Encourage the development of district/school comprehensive counseling plan using the state school counseling model
- Encourage counselors to practice the ethical standards of the counseling profession
- Collaborate and network with other organizations and LCA divisions
Goal II: To provide leadership and to support legislation that relates to the changing nature of school counseling and student needs.
- Train and inform counselors on establishing and maintaining contact with legislators
- Encourage counselors to assume a proactive role in the governmental and political process at the local, state, and national levels
- Maintain relationship with LCA lobbyist for regular legislative reports
Goal III: To provide professional development opportunities.
- Increase the number of available opportunities
- Encourage and assist members to submit proposals for local, state, and national conferences
