Made in France

On view at the French Library and Cultural Center, Boston

November 5 - December 3, 2001

Tue.-Thurs. 10 am - 8 pm, Fri. Sat. 10 am - 5 pm

Form is the content of my work. Whatever apparent subject may be before the lens, the impulse to make an image is primarily driven by the form that I see. Because the natural and human made worlds are predominantly expressed as landscape and architecture, architectural forms and landscape forms predominate in my images.
At rare moments in human life, strong forms converge in the same instant that time and reality are revealed by movement and gesture. I make a photograph--just then. Moments like this are not found, they are sought after with intense concentration and purpose. The subject can be anything. It is the formal image that holds the moment.
There is a feeling, a luminous, lightened, drawing of my being towards these moments that result in my images.
