Letter Seven

1 May 1999

i am thinking that i will probably be back in Brisbane by my Birthday, i would be good to be there for that, ah damn, what's it called? Future shock?  ah, the Shock of the New, i think i've got that, other people would call it homesick

what i cant figure out is, did you have this dream after you watched "Chamane"?  the birds as pets is a very shamanic thing, the parrots are allies, and birds are always used by shamans as allies, and there are heaps of parrots here, where i am, i see and hear them every day

>I dreamt about a house that had a lot of parrots as pets. The owner kept two
>peach faces in the letter box and they came down and nibbled on me. She had
>a major mitchell in the front window. It lived in a tank of sand or
>woodchips, and major mitchells were known for their burrowing habits.

do major Mitchells burrow?  if they don't, but they do in this dream, even more it indicates you were dreaming about a spirit, which can do things that they don't do in waking reality, and it is a cue as well, to the fact that you are dreaming.

>So you could watch this one burrow all day. The sand would keep on
>collapsing in on itself and we would keep being scared that the cockatoo
>would suffocate, but it always managed to crawl out, shake its head and
>do it again.

and this reminds me of my car driving dreams, where i am in a car and no one is driving, the car drives itself, so to me, the dream says, the universe is intelligent and driving itself, and all the creatures will be all right, even the major mitchell does not suffocate when its burrow falls in

here is what i typed last night...

Friday, April 30

it is still dry, as in i can't remember when it rained last, but it has rained since we went up Blue Knob,

it is the first full moon tonight yesterday, we had a visitor called Navall, who Sally describes as an aged hippie, he is a massuese and photographer, and he works in Byron Bay, Leigh is back again, and she went to Byron Bay and the Channon on Wednesday and Thursday

i went to Byron Bay on Wednesday too, to see Sam
i caught the school bus to Nimbin, hung out with Kach at the organic shop, and she gave me a fruit juice, when i went to catch a bus to Lismore at 10am, i realise that i couldn't read, there was no bus, so i hitched to Lismore with old guy in a terry towelling hat, and then with Ian the cave diver to Byron Bay, he is going to Jenolyn today, to go cave diving. got to Byron at 12pm, left KM at 9am, three hours, then caught another dinky little bus to Sam's place, which is in Suffolk Park,

went to the beach with Sam and the ti tree lake to watch the sunset and the moonrise, and the seagulls and all these interesting erosion patterns in the sand, and there were all these smooth round stones on the beach, and Sam said she had never seen so many, she says she wants to make a rock garden out of all these little round pebbles, and bigger pebbles, as long as they are all black,

i imagined that all the rocks were singing a note and all together they were a concert, a rock concert says Sam, and where there were more rocks, the music was louder, and when i can here the pulsing, of the interfence of all the notes, there with be a beat and rythymn, and it will sound like techno, rock music

i stayed overnight at Sam's and Michelle made this amazing gluggy carob chip cake, it was so gluggy, she started toasting it to eat it.  Michelle is the almost-not-owner of the Crystal Temple Apothecary, in Byron Bay (she officially sells it today!) and she was very excited about it, she has just moved into Sam's place, and she was bringing boxes of stuff from her old house, and saying to Sam, "do you want this? do you want this?"  reminded me of me. she is going travelling in Australia, and then to Bali, she wants Nivanni to go with her, Nivanni is Sam's mother, and Sam lives with her.

that night we watched "Radiance" on video, which is about three Aboriginal women who go to their mother's house for her funeral, and get to know each other, it is very good, and worth watching just for its conclusion, you especially would like the ending, i did, they do something that i have always wanted to do.

then i read this book, called ... something like, the Loss of Magic on Earth, the Land of Pan, Jon or Adam have probably heard of it, it is the last of a series of books of channeled knowledge, about the story of creation from the gods point of view, or rather the Father and the Mother they call themselves.  i read it for hours, and i didn't get tired, it is very involved, and fascinating, it talks about faeries and centaurs, and satyrs, and Pan is the earth and all the creatures in it, and Lucifer, and the fallen angels, the Ronalokas (sp?), and the rainbow spirits.  oh to make a film about that!

i got a bit of sleep that night, but i was awake most the night with asthma,

then the next day, i hitched back to KM, in two hours, in four cars, the man who did not speak much, in the strange foreign car, took me to Bangalow, which is the next blip on the map from Byron Bay, and it is a pretty old town,

then Tracey and Rachel took me to Lismore, and played cool music, Drum Arabic, who are a local band, and Tracey could tell me interesting things about the area, like identifying the Macademia Farm, and she said that the housing estate outside Lismore looks like a scab, and i imagined a computer animation or a film clip of this hand coming down and picking a house off the ground like a scab, and then plants growing up out of the ground where the house was, and then the house goes into a mulching machine, and comes out and goes on the ground,

then i walked through Lismore, through the shops, over the bridge, past the pub, and then the third car picked me up, and he was going to Turntable Falls, which goes through Nimbin, and we talked about the cop presence and Nimbin, and he has been living in Nimbin for 20 years,

then in Nimbin the Mobile Library was in, it is a big bus, with pictures on it, and i wanted to go in, but i still wasn't sure how long it would take to get back to KM, it was about 1/4 to 11am by now,

i walked through Nimbin towards the turnoff to the Channon and the bridge, and the third car picked me up, and it was a guy called Tim, and dropped me off at the driveway of KM, he told that the new trees on this slope we went past were Eucalyptus trees, and he said that he was planting a lot of trees on his plot, i told him that i was always looking for work planting trees, and he said but it isn't very often that we have the money to pay for someone to plant trees, and i said you can probably feed someone, and that there were a lot of people that  did what i do and work for food and accomodation, and he said that he was thinking of joining the WWOOF network,

and so i got back to KM just after 11am, and in plenty of time for my session at 1pm.

hee, hee, Nemi has these cool purple socks with toes drawn onto them, and pictures and faces on the soles

go well and prosper, and may your burrow always fall in, so that you remember you must fight the spirits all the way
