Virginia is very interesting, and we talked out Nimbin, and children, and Lismore, her pottery, being aliens, and heaps of other things. and we had coffee, at a coffee shop called the Mecca.
i went to Centrelink and they cannot or will not reinstate me while i am in northern NSW, i have to go back to Brisbane to get the benefit again, or wait for 6 months, so the challenge is to see how long i can stay here for, that is, how long can i make my money last, can i make money down here? and i have no faith in my ability to get paid work. :( or even faith in God to get me a job.
Virginia invited me to visit her at her house, we lives on a community called Lillyfield, which is on the bus route to Nimbin, and close to Lillian Rock.
on Saturday, i think i planted cabbages again, felt very down again, about where i am going, i am actually quite anxious about not having anywhere to go in the long term. i could probably stay here for another month, i am realising ... something, about this lifestyle, i'll get back to you when i realise what it is.
then Helen comes up to me and asks me if i am ready for the sweat tonight, oh is there a sweat tonight i say? so i help her cart wood over to the sweat, and then my arms are sore for the rest of the day, i am not used to carting the wheelbarrow, which is quite heavy let alone all the wood in it, that Helen packs into it.
but because the trainees went into the sweat first, and they didn't come out for hours, no one else ended up going in.
on Saturday night, Jenny Ford came to visit and hack lantana, she is a bush regenerator, and we talked about weeds, lantana and rainforest, and on Sunday, we hacked lantana together, and she told me the names of some of the things in the terraces below the house. i call it the house now, it isn't really a house, it is the kitchen, eating and workroom building. on Sunday night, we talked about planting things, and i can plant: jackfruit, macadamias, citrus, and lichees to name a few. Jenny thinks that four ice cream bean trees are quite enough. Jenny told me that planting is not the answer to the regeneration of this property. if we keep the lantana clear, there are enough seeds and seedlings already that will take off. i still want to plant things. not that i've done much so far.
did i tell you about Koah, and the National Food Trail? this is a guy who makes baskets, and sells them in Nimbin and he wants to walk up the National HorseRiding Trail, and plant fruit trees, and i am calling it the National Food Trail.
i rang Sam last night, she is a girl that i did the workshop with, and we arranged to meet on Tuesday, but i am meeting her on Wednesday instead in Byron Bay. i might have to hitch hike to Byron Bay, because there doesn't seem to be any way of getting there in the morning and coming back on the same day. the other woman we arranged to meet, Jana, is incontactable. i talked to Sam for an hour! i haven't had such a long phone call in ages.
website is coming along, i keep thinking that it will never end, i guess they are like that,
it is waxing moon tonight, and the night looks magical,
i was tired before but the hot shower seems to have picked me right up. Chris arrived this evening, he is here for the 10 Day detox program, and he arrived without his luggage, poor guy.
and on Saturday night, Leigh arrived, a woman from Sydney and she is a retreat guest
Helen is going to sydney on Friday.
yesterday, i moved out of the bunkhouse and into a caravan, there are six caravans at KM, and there is no electricity, and i have to use candles. and a candle doesn't stay up in the candle holder properly yet. it is quite nice in there, it is all my own, and the interior is purple, or lilac
so i am definately not going to CW for the permaculture course now, and i will be staying until at least May 5 when the rebirther training finishes.
Today i hacked groundsel, and weeded the vegetables. and did more website, and showed Nemi how to edit the photos for the web. she likes web design. and a woman called Monica came today, to do some work exchange. i saw these parrots too, they were a green color on their backs with kind of like stripes on their fronts, and red beaks, and they were bathing in the fish pond. the monsterios are ripe now, and we are eating them, and i am amazed at how many people don't know what they are. Ada says, is it a fruit?
Mardi Grass is on this weekend in Nimbin, i want to go and meet people and buy some clothes. i actually need clothes, so i can wear something when i wash, like another jumper. then i would probably wash my clothes more often too. i am still typing the account of Sphinx Rock, nearly half way i have put another page up www.thehub.com.au/~pippin/gard.html, it is poetry
