LANDMARKS OF STRETFORD

Much of Stretford suffered at the hands of 1960-70s town planners. Howeverthere are a number of distinct landmark buildings. In this selectio I have included some that can be seen today and others that have sadly disappeared. These will meet with mixed emotios from Stretfordians. So have a browse and see what you think.

The cenotaphe on Chester Road                    Longford Hall -home of John Rylands victim of

                                                                     Trafford Council cuts.

Stretford Precinct; cheap shops -no character.    St Annes Catholic Church. A gift

from  Humphrey de Trafford to his wife.

The not so civic building. After massive refurbishment it is now Social Services Offices and its old use for public functions have long since gone.

Many people had memorable nights out at the White City. Only a part of the facade shown here remains to herald you into a Pizza Hut!
