Assurance of Salvation

One issue that continues to be argued among Christians is assurance
of salvation. There are two camps and both feel strongly that their position
is right. I have been asked to provide scriptural proof for my position that
I hold. My position is this;

Justification through faith in Jesus Christ is made once and is forever more
a settled issue that cannot under any circumstance be voided.

Here are the scriptures that support my belief. For clarity I will
address only the issue of loss of salvation.

Revelation
5:1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written
within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.
5:2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to
open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?
5:3 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to
open the book, neither to look thereon.
5:4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the
book, neither to look thereon.
5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the
tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to
loose the seven seals thereof.

It is clear in verse 5:3 that no man can write his name in the book
of life nor can he erase it either. It is not even possible for one to look
upon the book and declare from the book of life whose name is written therein.
It is the province of Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ alone to open and read
the names written therein.

Revelation
6:1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were
the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.

Verse 6:1 of Revelation begins the visions of the broken seals.

Revelation
6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a
great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon
became as blood;
6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth
her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
6:14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every
mountain and island were moved out of their places.

The sixth seal is broken in verse 6:12. Chapter 7 of Revelation begins
the numbering of the faithful of Israel, twelve thousand of each tribe,
144,000 total. Then in verse 7:9 the bride of Christ is placed before the
throne, before the Lamb.

7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could
number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before
the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their
hands;

Note that the seventh seal has not yet been broken. This occurs in
verse 8:1

8:1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven
about the space of half an hour.

Revelation makes it clear that the church, the body of believers,
the bride of Christ, is presented to the Lamb before the seventh seal is ever
opened. This means that no one, not even Jesus Christ, will change the names
written in the book of life. This is supported by John 6:44 "No man can come
to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up
at the last day." indicating that God the Father knew from the beginning
whose names were in the book of life. It is also supported by 2 Timothy 2:13
"If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself."

Romans
8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to
the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he
called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

God knew us before the world began and called us and justified us, and
glorified us. Nowhere does it say between justification and glorification,
"rejecting those who were not perfected".

Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed
unto the day of redemption.

The Holy Spirit of God seals us in Christ and protects us until the last seal
is broken and by then we will have already been delivered as the spotless
pure white bride of Christ.

"The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen." KJV
