Fruits of the Spirit

Matthew 7
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but
inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or
figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree
bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree
bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into
the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom
of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy
name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful
works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that
work iniquity.

You shall know them by their fruits! Man will tell you that fruit is works of
righteousness but Jesus said to those who pointed at their works, I knew you
not. The fruits that Jesus told us to look for in others and in ourselves are
the fruits of the spirit. Only by the fruits of the spirit can one tell that
the love of Christ is working in you members (your body, your life).

John 15
16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye
should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that
whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.

So being chosen and ordained to bring forth fruit and have that fruit remain
in you, testifies that Jesus is speaking of the fruits of the spirit, because
works dont remain in you. They are external.

Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is
love,
joy,
peace,
longsuffering,
gentleness,
goodness,
faith,
Meekness,
temperance:
against such there is no law.

If you see the fruits of the spirit as being brought forth from one long
branch. This branch is rooted and grounded in love. Love flows through the
branch bringing forth life and producing fruit. Naturally the first fruit is
the love.

This is supported in 1 Corinthians 13 where works mean nothing without love.

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love,
I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and
all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains,
and have not love, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body
to be burned, and have not love, it profiteth me nothing.
4 Love suffereth long, and is kind; love envieth not; love vaunteth not itself,
is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked,
thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all
things.
8 Love never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether
there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

Love; we are rooted and grounded in love.

Ephesians 3
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and
grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length,
and depth, and height;
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be
filled with all the fulness of God.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask
or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world
without end. Amen.

The love of God has set us free in Christ Jesus, but we must not allow that
freedom to be perverted by the flesh. Only by love can we fulfill the law that
God has placed into our hearts.

Galatians 5
13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for
an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy
neighbour as thyself.
15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed
one of another.
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of
the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh:
and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

So that you cannot do those things that you would do. This is critical in
our Christian walk. We must understand how it is that love does work and when
it does not work in our lives. It is Jesus Christ which is the vine, and the
love of God flowing from that vine, through our members (the branch) by the
Holy Spirit that produces the fruits of the spirit.

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I
in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Romans 14
17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace,
and joy in the Holy Ghost.
18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and
approved of men.
19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things
wherewith one may edify another.
20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it
is evil for that man who eateth with offence.
21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby
thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.
22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth
not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith:
for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

So then sin is now defined as anything that you do that is not of faith. It
is not just doing wrong, it also includes doing right if your motives are not
the love of God working in your heart and performed through faith. This is why
John said we all sin.

1 John 1
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not
in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Who can honestly say that every moment of every day he does all things in faith?

It is by the fruit of the spirit that we can know when we are not walking by
faith. When sin has caused a blood clot and love no long flows in our member,
we no longer produce fruit of the spirit. We can identify with our present
state of walk by our awareness of the fruits of the spirit.

Ever loose your patience? You first lost your peace and joy, then you lost
your patience. The cause of all loss is the same thing. Some sin, remember
that anything not done in faith is sin, has blocked the flow of Gods love
in your life. It may have immediately preceded the event, wherein you can
readily identify the source. But those things which are hidden from you will
require you to submit prayer to God for revelation of that sin which is
blocking the flow of His love in you.

Are all sins worthy of repentance? Apparently not.

Romans 14:22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that
condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

All I can say is that as long as you have the fruits of the spirit, then
those sins you have committed because they are not of faith, arent a big
enough problem to block the flow of Gods love in you. But even little sins
may act like plaque and build up over time to cause blockage. Do not be
tolerant of known sins even if they do not block the flow of the Gods love.
They will lead to blockage. A healthy Christian looks towards prevention of
health issues and does not wait for a heart attack.
