Ephesians 1:3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all
spiritual blessings in heavenly places in
Christ:
We have been blessed with all spiritual blessings. Past tense, it has
already been done. Evidence of standing in the finished work. Where have we
been blessed? In the heavenly!
Once again speaking to us as if we are already there, in the heavenly.
And last but not least, in Christ. Here is our access. He abides in us, we
abide in Him. He is seated at the right hand throne of God and guess what....
There we are, seated with Him and in Him. He is our access to the throne of
God. When we are in communion with Christ, we are in the heavenly, seated at
the right hand throne of God, in Christ Jesus. Is it no wonder God exalts us
to walk in the Spirit. When we walk in the Spirit we are in Christ and with
the Father, but as we walk in the flesh we have broken communion.
I would like to look at three sets of scriptures that relate to our coming
into and going out of communion with God.
Deuteronomy 28:1-13
Isaiah 37:28-29
Ezekiel 43:9-12
Deuteronomy 28
1
And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt
hearken diligently unto the voice of the
LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his
commandments which I command thee this day,
that the LORD thy God will set thee on high
above all nations of the earth:
Hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. How is it that you can hear
the voice of the Lord unless you come into His presence. The first rule of
obedience is that you must be cable to hear His voice.
2
And all these blessings shall come on thee,
and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto
the voice of the LORD thy God.
As in Ephesians 1:3, but in Ephesians unlike here in the OT covenant, it
says we have already received all spiritual blessing. The OT economy was a
work ethic that proved to fail because the law was weak.
3
Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed
shalt thou be in the field.
Blessed in your work, whether you work for someone else or for yourself.
4
Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the
fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle,
the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
You shall be bountiful. You will product many good works. Much fruit of
the spirit.
5
Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
That which the Lord has given no man can take away.
6
Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in,
and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
You will be blessed when you walk in the spirit and even when you dont.
His blessings go before you. I think this is import meat. Savor it.
7
The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up
against thee to be smitten before thy face:
they shall come out against thee one way, and flee
before thee seven ways.
He has already won the war. Victory is ours.
8
The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in
thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine
hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which
the LORD thy God giveth thee.
9
The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto
himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt
keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk
in his ways.
He has made us righteous.
10
And all people of the earth shall see that thou
art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall
be afraid of thee.
If God be with us, who can be against us?
11
And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods,
in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy
cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land
which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
12
The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure,
the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his
season, and to bless all the work of thine hand:
and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou
shalt not borrow.
His bounty is our bounty. Limitless.
13
And the LORD shall make thee the head,
and not the tail;
and thou shalt be above only,
and thou shalt not be beneath;
if that thou hearken unto the commandments
of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day,
to observe and to do them:
Here is another masterful word. Thou shalt be above only. His intention
is that we abide in Him always. We are with Him now in the heavenly. We are
above. We shall not be below.
Isaiah 37
28
But I know thy abode, and thy going out,
and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.
29
Because thy rage against me, and thy tumult,
is come up into mine ears, therefore will I
put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips,
and I will turn thee back
by the way by which thou camest.
God is very specific here. You will not be allowed to come before Him
with rage issues. The way you get in is the Holy Spirit and He will use the
Holy Spirit to convict you of those issues which you must repent before you
will be allowed to come into His presence again.
Ezekiel 43
9
Now let them put away their whoredom,
and the carcases of their kings, far from me,
and I will dwell in the midst of them for ever.
10
Thou son of man, shew the house to the house
of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their
iniquities: and let them measure the pattern.
11
And if they be ashamed of all that they have done,
shew them the form of the house,
and the fashion thereof,
and the goings out thereof,
and the comings in thereof,
and all the forms thereof,
and all the ordinances thereof,
and all the forms thereof,
and all the laws thereof:
and write it in their sight,
that they may keep the whole form thereof,
and all the ordinances thereof,
and do them.
12
This is the law of the house;
Upon the top of the mountain the whole limit
thereof round about shall be most holy.
Behold, this is the law of the house.
House Rule: Only the Holy
Now I would like to tie the Old Testament scriptures to the New Testament.
Hebrews 9
23
It was therefore necessary that the patterns
of things in the heavens should be purified with these;
but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices
than these.
And we just got through reading in Ezekiel about the pattern of the house.
I offer up the remainder of this lesson without comment, that the Lord who
has blessed thee in heavenly places, might reveal hat glory unto you Himself.
Amen.
24
For Christ is not entered into the holy places
made with hands, which are the figures of the true;
but into heaven itself,
now to appear in the presence of God for us:
25
Nor yet that he should offer himself often,
as the high priest entereth into the holy place
every year with blood of others;
26
For then must he often have suffered since
the foundation of the world: but now once in
the end of the world hath he appeared to
put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
27
And as it is appointed unto men once to die,
but after this the judgment:
28
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many;
and unto them that look for him shall he appear
the second time without sin unto salvation.
Hebrews 10
16
This is the covenant that I will make with them
after those days, saith the Lord,
I will put my laws into their hearts,
and in their minds will I write them;
17
And their sins and iniquities
will I remember no more.
18
Now where remission of these is,
there is no more offering for sin.
19
Having therefore, brethren,
boldness to enter into the holiest by the
blood of Jesus,
20
By a new and living way,
which he hath consecrated for us,
through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21
And having an high priest over the house of God;
22
Let us draw near with a true heart
in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience,
and our bodies washed with pure water.
"The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen." KJV
