Luger Westwind 21

This is our Luger Westwind 21. We purchased the boat used from a family that owned it since it was built in Grand Marais, Minnesota over 20 years ago. It is the first boat we have ever owned!  It is in very good shape and the previous owners "babied" this boat taking very good care of it.  We have made no major repairs on it.  Currently we keep it docked during the Summer months at WigWam Bay on Lake Mille Lacs in central Minnesota.

This is a view inside the cabin looking towards the bow. This Westwind has a Goodyear holding tank, toilet, mercerator pump, fresh water holding tank, and battery installed. The holding tank is located in a compartment just forward of the toilet.

This Westwind has a stainless steel sink and water faucet installed on the starboard side.  It also has a two burner stove install. There are two propane tanks located in the aft compartment. This compartment also hold a 6 gallon gasoline tank, a deep cycle marine battery, extra propeller, and cockpit drain valves.

My Westwind has a full electrical panel that controls:

    * Running lights
    * Water pump
    * Holding tank pump
    * Aux equipment (search light, GPS, SONAR)

This Westwind uses a "Swing Keel System". The swing keel rides up and over underwater obstructions and retracts for trailer transport and beaching.

Since this boat can be beached, the swing keel is mounted in a housing the protrudes above the floor. This configuration creates a loss of floor space, but provides an entry step and is also a table. The table leafs can be seen on the port and starboard sides of the keel housing.

Westwind operates with her swing keel fully up, fully down or at any intermediate position.  The keel is raised and lowered with a "safety-brake" winch that's easily operated.  The VHF Marine transceiver is mounted on the ceiling of the cabin on the port side just inside of the entryway.

This Westwind has had the cabin entry extended towards the aft to enlarge the opening. Instrumentation includes:

    * Inclinometer
    * Compass
    * Sonar
    * Knot meter
    * GPS

    * VHF Marine transceiver
    * Full Navigation lights
    * Search light
    * Barometer

My Westwind also has a "tip-up" rudder that can ride up and over underwater obstructions.

One unique feature of this boat is a pilot wheel!  I like the wheel much better than a tiller. The wheel has a friction lock to hold course.

The 10 HP Merc outboard has cockpit mounted transmission and throttle located forward of the wooded seat between the pilots legs.  Two winches have also been installed.

This is a view of the bow pulpit, anchor, and forward hatch.  The holding tank access is located on the port side just ahead of the forward hatch.
