Getting It All Together...
Hi there,
I'm Larry Bourgeois, a regular guy that wants to share a little of my happiness with being active on the web, with others. Prior to the www days and for about two thirds of my life, I was pretty well the gung ho type outdoorsy dude, not caring much for fancy shmancy typewriters and cable change boxes, VCR's and lots of other hyped up stuff of the day. You keep the junk and I'll grab that little hunk of reality. Yup, give me outdoors or give me death, was one of my little motto's way back then. Tp play catch-up, skip forward a few years and...Well, for about the last 7 years plus, my poor overtaxed little bush flavored mind, has been pretty well jammed and crammed, squeezed and and even freezed, with a lot of internet related stuff. AND it has Not been totally engrossed in the nature stuff, per say. Mostly that means that I've been learning all I can about this most wonderful new technology and power. THE way of communicating with almost anyone.
Back in '97, I started off with no machine at all and hardly any computer skills (besides typing up a resume') but, I was armed and ready with my normal inquisitive brain. I had to work at various libraries for a few months to even just access the web for half-hour stints every day. Then I'd bike or walk to the next PL and do a half hour cramming session. Then off to sometimes, the third and forth even, depending on if I seemed to be on a roll or not. The next little jump happened in 2000, when I finally purchased a second hand, affordable, low horsepower, and pretty dependable little Dell computer. Nothing fancy or fast to be sure but as they say, " Hey, we're live"! So now, I'm right here at home, in my little studio with my very own unlimited Internet connection and more than a couple dozen webpages successfully tucked under my belt and easily found with Google! Man, who would have thunk it? Little ol' me, the bush loving guy from Sudbury, hardly ever seperated from one of my trusty fishin' sticks, to what, wandering website builder/tweaker with a faster, bigger computer, hooked up 24/7? Wow. That's a REAL rush folks.
Fishin' has somehow taken a back seat to what I have come to affectionately call, "web work". Turning into a web( creater )master was not something I actually set out to do in the begining, or even knew about then, for that matter. Not that being a WM'er is a big deal or anything, but it became kind of a neat little perk I picked up sort of, for putting in all those grueling hours at the grindstone, burning the midnight oil, I suppose... :-)
Ever think about doing a little writing? Did you ever consider using those literary talents of yours to earn some steady cash flow? Writing is , sort of like fishing in that it is a craft. An art. There is a lot more to it than what meets the eye of a casual observer. Writing well is something we can all learn to do better and it can make you shine if you have a way with words, as my good 'ol dad used to tell me, way before I ever went to High School. We are, as you all know, living in a knowledge based world. Think for a few seconds where we would all be if and when the lights go out one day. For all intents and purposes, we would lose our knowledge and be forced to revert back to animal instincts and the ensuing havoc. The world needs more writers. Could you be the next one ready to hatch? I encourage you to get on with it, if you love to write. That very love, is what will separerate you from the also rans, in the publishing game.
Every writer or anyone who has ever even wanted to to become a writer, knows that you have to actually write, in order to become a real writer. Or you have to physically pitch to be a pitcher for that matter. Well, building little personal webpages is sort of like that too. As is most of the things in LIFE! You have to work on your own pages (life) with the tools available to you in order to become good at it. Well, skilled enough to get a website up on the net anyway. Then again, even I have proven that it is all quite user friendly and intuitive and NOT really some hocus pokus, mystery at all. You DO NOT have to be a so called computer geek or "brain" to build your own little friendly webpage on the Internet. Shucks, I never even went to college. Just think writing but with tons of other neat stuff added to your verbage so as to put a little more oooomph in your words, so to speak. Stuff like, pictures, free stuff, animations, email links, Kool Pages links, all kinds of sounds and newslinks too and even chat lines and blogs can all be added to a writers words. Wooaaa! Then, it can all be linked to other pages, and then to a lot of search engines and then, to anyone you know, that has an E-Mail address, anywhere in the whole world!
Writin' to the planet!!! The hair on my arms and the back of my neck is standing up as I type these words to you my viewers, because I have tasted the power. Now I want you to jump in and feel your life grow too, right along with me. I'm kinda like your friendly, low-key coach, to a lot of very kool stuff.
You might say, ( or you might not);-)that this little website is kind of a small sample of a sort of portfolio thingy, of just a few of the websites which I have personally created, and promoted in the last three or four years or so. All of them are based on reality 101 content. None of them are what you'd call spectacular, great or even close to that as a matter of fact, but each of them conveys some form of good and harmonic messages suitable for the masses. Many of the hyper-links on each of these pages will engage you. I hope you enjoy your tour here with me to-day because this page was made with YOU in mind. Even if you don't want to write. :-)Where do You want to be in twelve months or so friend? Or one month even? Trust me, time does FLY....Why not join me, here on the web, with your own personal webpage? There's a lot of room for everyone and it has become SO darned EASY to do! There is SO MUCH you can do with this modern day medium. Don't be shy, give it a try!
Caution! Some of my links will get your heart pumping faster if you are into Adventure in some way, shape or form, so please be prepaired for a little excitement and don't be shy about screamin' or doin' the 'ol, iiiIIIEEEEEE, if you're diggin' some of this real life stuff I'm sharin' with you here. It's O.K. though, you're probably at home where nobody can see you havin' such a hoot. You gotta like this Internet stuff, don't you now? Get out there yourself, and Do the Outdoorsy thingy, to your own little body there, To-day!
Gotta run.
Later,
...LarryB.
