New Courthouse location
Discovery Story

SIGNS OF THE FUTURE: gradually things are happening, step by step. One of the regrettable problems is that most of us will not be able to judge the final result until all is completed. Have our planners and politicians and citizen's committees served us well?

Cameron and Ramsey will soon be the home of the historic Tastee Diner now located on Georgia Avenue. The Diner will be relocated to make way for the construction of the new Discovery center. GO TO DISCOVERY STORY.

A view of the development along Fenton Street from the roof of the parking structure that is next to City Place. This parking structure is slated for demolition at a later moment as the landscape is shuffled. Photos below show more of the exterior completion along Fenton where interior completion is underway.

The finishing touches to the final rows of townhouses are under way. But across the street at the Metro Center buildings, several fountains have been totally demolished creating a temporary open space. Fountains to be replaced by what?

DISCOVERY PLANS TAKING SHAPE

Read this April article from The Gazette newspaper.

"After nearly two years of planning and design, Discovery Communications has moved closer to breaking ground for a new corporate headquarters in downtown Silver Spring."

The small Kuhn Park (lower right), site of many downtown music events, is being dismantled.

"State officials have taken two giant steps closer toward breaking ground
for a new district courthouse in downtown Silver Spring, adding another
significant public works project to the region's budding urban center."
