Home > Oktoberfest at Edelweiss
Since I am going to be in Munich at the time of Oktoberfest, but won't go to the celebration there, I thought I would attend the Oktoberfest at T.E.V. Edelweiss before I go.  I hope some of you in the class will join me there.

The
Edelweiss club is a German club for the preservation of traditional dances and clothing in Germany, a Trachten Erhaltungs Verein.   There are many T.E.V.s in Germany, and in fact Edelweiss has a Patenverein in Diessen, am Ammergau, in Bavaria.  The Tracht worn by the Schuhplattler dancers is painstakingly styled after that of the Verein in Diessen.

Edelweiss holds a dance almost every Saturday night of the year, and on Sept. 22 and 29, and Oct. 6, they will be celebrating Oktoberfest with a German band and traditional German dancing.  I particularly want to go on Saturday, September 22, when the Schuhplattler will be performing.

If you are interested you can let me know in class or at my email address,
