Larry's R/C Planes and Boats
I have enjoyed building model boats and airplanes for as long as I can remember.
About seven years ago I met a friend, Bill Metzger, who tutored me in the finer points of building and flying airplanes. What a great hobby.
However, there were occasions where I used only one square foot of ground to land my plane, requiring a plastic bag to transport the remains home.
Hopefully, I will be able to show you some of my work.
I guess the flagship of my fleet is the Chris-Craft Corvette, 1955 vintage. This was built from an old Sterling kit. It has twin screws.  Each motor is controlled by a Vantech solid state speed control. It performs like the real thing.
It also has a finished interior.
The Jet Express, of Port Clinton, Ohio was built from scratch. The folks allowed me on the boat to take the necessary measurements.  It was built to scale 1/2 inch to the foot. It weighs about 20 pounds, it too, has two Vantech controlled motors.
Of the planes that I've built, I like the Cessna 182, with an 82 inch wingspan. The power is a Saito 150.
The plane I have the most fun flying is an old Kadet Senior with very little dihedral, and powered with a Super Tiger 75. I did modify it with ailerons.  This plane has been broken and repaired so many times but it still flies great.
This past September 2002, I attended our destroyer's 50th reunion at Prattsburg, N.Y. I have a few pictures of my shipmates in the photo album.
