Wednesday
- Left Omaha around 6:00 p.m.
- Filled up gas in Council Bluffs.
- Checked into
Fairfield Inn Kansas City Airport.

Thursday
- Check out of hotel by 4:00 a.m. (!!!!), wihch is way too early to be awake!
-  Took a limo to the
KC airport .  Chris accidentally paid with a $50 instead of a $20. Whoops! Nice tip!
- Our flight left at 5:45 a.m. The airport wasn't even open when we got there, it was so early!
- Connected in
St. Louis.  Chris discovered that he had used the wrong ticket so we were worried he would have problems getting on the plane! Luckily, since they were e-tickets we didn't have any issues.
- Arrived in
Seattle at 10:57 a.m.  There was police tape up around the gate next to us.  Lara was very impressed by the subway to the baggage claim area! Chris "lost" his bag-- there was one left and he insisted it wasn't his.  We went through the whole process of filling out a missing bag form when he decided to check the tag on the one bag left.  Yep- it was his! Dork. :)
- Took a taxi to
Courtyard Seattle Lake Union.
- Checked in to hotel and saw a plane take off from the lake as we went up to our room.
- Took free hotel shuttle to
Pike Place Market.
- Lara bought a cookie that was so big she needed both hands to hold it! There were homeless people everywhere!  Chris wouldn't let Lara buy them each a cookie.
- Saw the flying fish guys at
Pike Place Fish!  Lara bought this cool souvenir sweatshirt.
- Saw an IMAX movie of Mount St. Helen's at the aquarium.
- Ate at a waterfront restaurant, where, not quite yet into the spirit of Seattle's waterfront, we both ordered hamburgers.
- Walked back to the hotel after waiting for the shuttle for what seemed like hours.  We were waiting next to a gang (?) in park filled with homeless people. And I mean filled!  It turns out that someone had hit a lightpole next to the hotel and all the electricity was out.  The hotel offered to pay for our cab but we thought it might be faster to walk. We used an attraction map to guesstimate our way back.

Friday
- Took free shuttle to Space Needle.
- Visited Space Needle and area. It was amazing!

-
Had dinner at Sky City in the Space Needle- a revolving restaurant!  Getting into the spirit of Seattle, Lara had salmon. Chris, not a big fish lover, had Nebraska Prime Rib!  Lara had the coolest dessert ever- a bowl of ice cream in dry ice that sent smoke through the entire area.
- Walked around the beautiful fountain at the base of the Space Needle.
- Went to the
Experience Music Project museum, where we saw Biggie's suit!
- Walked back to the hotel
again, this time using our view from the Space Needle as a guide, since we had left the map used Thursday at the hotel.

Saturday

- Took shuttle to Pike Place Market.
- Went to the
Seattle Aquarium, where we watched the otters and harbor seals eat.
- Went on an
Argosy Cruise, where we saw two sea lions and some top-secret Navy ships with police boat guards.  One of them actually trained their machine guns at us!
- Visited
Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe, where we saw shrunken heads and lots of other oddities.
- Walked back to the hotel...again. We were getting to know the area pretty well by then and had our landmarks (i.e. Pepsi sign) down pat.

Sunday
- Took the shuttle to the Space Needle
- Went to
Pacific Science Center, where Lara "almost" lost her camera...turns out she left it at the hotel.  Saw an amazing butterfly garden and lots of really neat exhibits.
- Saw another IMAX movie on caving.
- Took the
monorail to a mall, where we walked around until it closed...which turned out to be a problem when we realized that the entrance to the monorail was inside the mall and we were locked out!  Luckily, we found a back way there.
- Took the shuttle back to the hotel...finally!

Monday
- Checked out of hotel by 9:30 a.m.
- Took taxi to airport.
- Flight out of Seattle left at 11:57 a.m.  Chris set off the metal detector about a dozen times with change, cigarettes, phone, etc.
- Connected in St. Louis.
- Arrived in Kansas City at 8:57 p.m.
- Took the hotel shuttle back to the airport, where our shuttle bus driver was hilarious and kept talking to us about drugs, being black in a small town, etc.
- Drove back to Omaha...home at last!
