Living Ot Loud

(1998) starring Holly Hunter, Danny DeVito, Queen Latifah

Rachael has maybe 30 seconds in this film, and not much dialogue. The night I watched it on TNT I missed her scene.

Holly Hunter is Judith, a woman who sacrificed her dream of med school to marry a doctor. The film picks up with her receiving news that her husband wants a divorce and has been cheating on her.

DeVito is a night watchman for Judith's apartment building. His marriage ended long ago and has never replaced the relationship, but starts rebuilding his life following his daughter's death. He establishes a very good friendship with Judith, and it becomes the foundation of his recovery.

Latifah's jazz club singer befriends Judith after she has one too many and needs help getting home. One night she takes Judith to a ladies-only club, and there Judith encounters her younger, less cynical self, played by Cook. It becomes the catalyst for Judith's change.

I'll watch this film again before I make any comments about it. Stay tuned.
