L'Arc~en~Ciel are Hyde as vocal, Tetsu as Bass, Yuki as Drum and Ken as Guitar.

let's flashback.. L'Arc~en~Ciel was formed back in February 1991 by Tetsu. He is the leader of L'Arc~en~Ciel. The L'Arc~en~Ciel word came from a movie title he watched before. L'Arc~en~Ciel can be translate as the ark in the sky. Despite of japan dialect, L'Arc usually called as Laruku.

In the first debut, Tetsu recruited Hyde who was the guitarist and vocalist of Jerusalem Rod after he saw Hyde's performance. Tetsu invited Hyde and a drummer called Pero for a jam-session. After that Hyde and Pero joined Tetsu's new band. So, in 1991 Laruku has exist with they first formation, they are Hyde (vocal), Tetsu (Bass), Pero (Drum), Hiro (Guitar).

In June 1992 the guitarist Hiro wanted to quit just before their first recording. Then, Tetsu called his friend Ken to substitute the guitar position. The recording took three days. Ken had to quit studying because live shows. His parents were mad at him, he was only 6 months away from graduating. they sold the first single Flood Of Tears was released in november of 1992. After that Pero leaved the band too. Tetsu asked Sakura to join the band. Sakura came to Osaka to their performances after Tetsu sent him a demo tape. On january 16th 1993, Sakura became L'Arc~en~Ciel's new drummer. All of the members in Osaka moved to Tokyo and they all lived in Sakura's house.

On April 27, 1993 Their first album as an indies band, DUNE was released. The album went to spot 1 on the Oricom charts and sold 20.000 copies in 3 months. They had the chance to play at a big concert at Shibuya Koukaidou where a lot of other indies bands play. heir first live tour was arranged called Close By Dune on June 14th 1993. They performed 10 live shows in 2 weeks. Their first video Touch Of Dune was released on October 21, 1993.

before summer 1994 another live tour started called Feel Of Dune. Their last tour as an indies band is Nostalgia no Yokan. In July 1994 L'Arc~en~Ciel became a full-time band. The video single, Nemuri ni Yosete was released on July 1st 1994 and then the 2nd album, Tierra realesed on July 14th. The tour attached to this album was Sense Of Time. Blurry Eyes, the first single released with Sony on October 21th 1994, is the opening song for anime called D.N.A.2. On December 1st 1994 they open their official Fan Club called Le CIEL.

In September 1995 the album Heavenly is released. And in September 9th 1995 was a tour Heavenly '95. All the concert tickets were sold out. On september 22nd, they appeared on Japan's equivalent of MTV and Music Station.

In 1996, Sakura (Drumer) was involved with drugs case. And got caughted by police. Because of that case, he left the band. This was a very emotional time for the band, especially for Hyde who was Sakura's best friend. The Launched of Single 4th avenue cafe had been towed and all activities got cancelled because of it.

In 1997, Yuki (ex-drummer of Zi:Kill) was recruited as the additional drumer. In the same year he was joined the band. The single Niji was recorded and filmed in germany and london with Yukihiro as the new drummer. Sakura officially quit in november 1997. L'Arc~en~Ciel came back on December 13th 1997 with L'Arc~en~Ciel 1997 Reincarnation Live at Tokyo Dome. The Live was sold out in 4 minutes with 56.000 people. and Yuki occupy the position until now..
