When you choose to write fanfic, you get (especially in the case of Alias) a great, established cast of characters to play with. Which is great, and a whole lot of fun. But it also comes with some responsibility. Your characters have histories — some, admittedly, more well-known than others — and you should be aware of them. The path the show has taken, called "canon," has led to who the characters are today. And even if you haven't been watching since the beginning, there are plenty of sites out there that will fill you in on show history and character backgrounds. And don't forget to check your name spellings. Check the Rambaldi section for more on him.

generally useful

ABC FAQ: The official ABC FAQ on the show can catch you up on canon and occasionally provide some additional details.

Alias Chronology: A well-constructed timeline of the events on Alias, as well as events that happened in the show's past, all the way back to Rambaldi's time.

character guides

Character Profiles: ABC's official site has what you can consider "official" info on the characters, including the basics (like when they joined the CIA or SD-6, if appropriate) and details (like languages they speak, although Syd has to speak about 20 more than she's listed for).

Profiles: Probably the best site for character information, it lists facts about each character and references the episode in which we learned those facts.

Alias Character Guide (Season 1): From the alt.tv.alias archives, this lists pretty much every character that was on screen, even briefly, during season 1. An example? Kostia Bergman was the newspaper science guy Will took Eloise Kurtz' pin to in episode 8.

Guest Appearances for "Alias" (IMDB): Lists guest stars on Alias and who they played, in both seasons 1 and 2.

Agent Profiles Index: A good basic rundown of the major characters, with even more details on the actors that play them.

episode guides and transcripts

Episode Guide (ABC): Again, official source, "official" guide. Fairly lengthy and detailed recaps of each episode.

Alias Media Episode Captures: An extensive set of screencaps for seasons 1 and 2, this is the place to go if you want to check up on something visually.

Episode Guide (DearSally.org): Fairly brief descriptions of each episode.

Missions: With coverage of both the first and second seasons, this site gives a nice brief synopsis of each episode. Great if you want a refresher but don't want to wade through transcripts or longer reviews.
