2003 Updates
These updates pick up where the '04 update page ends.
***************************************************12/9/03: I completely redid the "About Me" page (again) and the home page. I redid the home page so it wouldn't be so cluttered, and FINALLY it looks neat, so hopefully I won't feel compelled to remodel it anymore. What I did was put the links into the main text, a tactic I first used on my now-gone site "Ayeka's Palace." Anyway, that's it for now. Ciao!
12/8/03: Wow I haven't updated in a while. Well I was sick the last few days. Mostly I've been trying to figure out what else I can add to this site. I guess episode guides, but since I don't have any Generator Gawl tapes, that would be hard, cause it's been a while since I watched them...huh, maybe my friend can lend me the first two again. But anyway, Generator Power has now gotten 200 hits. Hurrah!! (Note: I'm not fishing for hits, but since I'm not highly advertised, getting a large number of hits is exciting).
11/27/03: Happy Thanksgiving everybody! I had a great Thanksgiving...I got a nice big drumstick from the turkey...yummy. But anyway...hits are close to 190, which is great. I still haven't heard from Yahoo or the Open Directory Project about whether they're going to accept my site and list it. That's frustrating. Very frustrating. Meanwhile life goes on. School is almost over for the semester, and Christmas is fast approaching. I've basically been doing school stuff (I've got a big research paper due soon) and posting lovely stories on Sabrina's Pokegym RPG, a Pokmon online RPG group I recently joined for fun.
Anyway, I made some changes on the "awards for you" page. I made the "Teleporting to Greatness" award for sites that have been up a year or less, since the name of the award suggested it should be for up-and-coming sites. I'm kinda unhappy that nobody's applying for my awards...maybe I should put a link to that on the home page. I sent a "Recommended by Ryo" award to my friend Matt, webmaster of Tenchi Muyo! Another Universe, because his site deserves it.
I'm debating on changing the layout again, cause the home page still seems too cluttered to me. I did some experimenting with tables, but as usual it didn't turn out very good. I've never been very good at making HTML tables. So what should I do? Frames are out of the question, cause I tried that before with another site I had and it's a pain in the butt to code. I could try an imagemap (I have a book that says how to do it) but again you run into very difficult coding when you do that. *sigh*
Well...I'll tinker with it. Don't be surprised if the site looks different next time I update.
Oh, also...I have been finding quite a lot of info lately on Generator Gawl cause I did a Yahoo search on it, and also visited the official page for it made by Tatsunoko, Ltd (the company behind it and many other shows including "Speed Racer"). So I may have some of that info on the site too next time. Ciao! Oh, one more thing...I found a site that had kitty versions of Ryo, Kouji, and Gawl. How kawaii!! Neko tachi! Neko tachi! Kawaii!! Anyway, here's the URL in case you want one: http://www.anycities.com/user1/
ghostofdawn/kitties/ggawlkitties.html11/21/03: I'm finally over 150 hits! Hooray! Anyway, no changes have been made, really...I just wanted to announce that milestone.
11/17/03: My site's approaching the 150-hit mark, slowly. Anyway, I moved the site's files into their own folder on my computer to reduce clutter in my main hard drive folder. But that hasn't really affected the site much. Anyway, I'm still waiting to see if I'll get on Yahoo and stuff. I'm going to try to win more awards soon. Ciao!
10/26/03: Last night I finished my newest page addition to the site...a page on voice actors/seiyuu! There is a link to it on the home page.
10/24/03: Hi there! Wow. It's been 8 days since I posted an update. I was incredibly busy last weekend because I was re-doing my bedroom...the bottom of the wall is now painted a nice, pleasant blue (we didn't paint the whole wall cause I have so much stuff on the walls...posters and the like), and I got the bookcase from downstairs so I actually have space for all my books now! But...you don't want to hear about that, I assume. Anyhow...I found informative entries on Generator Gawl in a book at my school library called The Anime Encyclopedia, and I added them both to the storyline page. Also in the last week or so, I went to the lovely site Generator Gawl: With Love and found there were excellent episode summaries there from the first 9 episodes. I read them and found them very detailed. Then I used the info in the episode summaries to write the missing bios from the characters section: the minor characters (Masami's mom and Takuma Nekasa) and the bad guys (Ryouko Saito and Kanae). I also created a couple more awards for you guys, which you can find out about here. OHHH...as of today, my site has had 101 hits (when I visit the site counts). So now I have over 100 hits! SWEEET!!! Oh, plus I have a guestbook now too...sign it if you like!
10/16/03: In the past week, I did a lot. I created the "Recommended by Ryo" award for you guys to win, as well as two link banners and a link button. Then I fixed some minor stuff here and there. I also added a couple of quiz awards that I won the other day at Sailorplace.com to the awards page. And I created an updates page to house these lovely update blurbs. The biggest update is the storyline page, which is now up!! I finally stopped putting it off and put up both a short storyline without spoilers and a long storyline with spoilers. The last thing I did was completely re-write the "About Me" page. That's it. Ciao!
10/8/03: Hi everybody! Lara here. I decided not to work on the site for a bit to give people a chance to visit it. My friend Yashi mentioned that the background didn't load until she refreshed the page. So I decided to change the background to a solid color. For this I chose black. Then I created a site logo (it's on the entrance page). This went through several versions, then I finally found one that worked for me. Along with that, I made a "home" button, featuring my favorite Generator Gawl character, Ryo. Oh, and I made a "My site's sponsor is Geocities" button featuring Kouji. For anyone wondering how I made them: I simply used Paint Shop Pro. Paint Shop Pro is Jasc's answer to Photoshop. It's not as high-tech as Photoshop, but it works all right for my purposes. I just basically took a picture, cut and pasted it into a empty image the size I wanted the button or whatever to be, added a black glow, and then added the "Lights" effect. After that, I added text (stroke color: fading spectrum; fill color: the foreground color, a light blue).
9/30/03: My first update!! Okay, this is what I did. I created a page to house my adoptions, which you can get to via the awards page. I fixed a few things here and there besides that. Ciao!
