| You got the job!! (Or actually I don't even have a client. The curse of the 21st century) |
The secondhand carsalesman of the 21st Century has to be the Recruitment consultant. Slick bastards in secondhand suits that lie and cheat to get a big bonus and don't mind whom they screw over in the process. Ever since I started working here my phone did not stop ringing with "Job offers" from very shady guys and girls, that act very friendly ofcourse, bugging me by asking me wether I wanted to come and work for Company A or B. The company was always very interested in my C.V, which is pretty impressive although I say it myself, of and they would have no problem arranging an interview for me. I am not just talking management positions here, but director and senior management positions in which I would be making about 40 to 50k ($80-$90.000) a year and get a big company car and yadayadayada. AS again last week, the phone rang at about 10AM, as I had just been on nightshift I was at home and therefor answered the phone. On the other end was a voice that sounded a lot more cheerfull then my own, but then again what do you expect of me when just waking up, of a undoubtably very slick individual that asked me wether I would be interested in "Turning an underperforming Team around as I have done before ", how he knew is beyond me but I suppose information is very easy to find once you know weher to look for it. Ofcourse I was interested (I know most of them lie through their teeth but I don't want to pass over the one opportunity that could actually get me out of my current job), so we spoke for a while after which he sent me the "jobSpec". This "Jobspec." consisted of the following information; Salary (Which ofcourse was very nice and exactly what I am looking for) bonus and benefits and that was it. His email also contained a link to the company's website, which is very usefull indeed and that's also where he slippedup. This company had all their vacancies listed on their website and odly enough the one I had been discussing with this very friendly caller was not on there. I asked about this and he said, "Yes, they have not yet started recruiting from outside as we handle all their HR business" Again fair enough, I can imagine that if I offered a solution to a company that they would also want me to coordinate their recruitment-process. He asked me wether I was interested and ofcourse I replied "Yes". He asked me when I would be available for an interview and I gave him a date, He then promised he would get back to me the following day. This ofcourse didn't happen. I sent him an email enquiring wether he had had a response from the company, and his reply was "I just spoke to their manager today and he informmed me thast they were having some internal problems, but I have a meeting planned with them this week and I'll get back to you then." This ofcourse also never happened. Trust me when I say that I could have done this job with two hands tied behind my back, and if this company had seen my C.V they would definetly have wanted to meet me, I am not being cocky here I really am very very good at my job (I suck at plenty of other things though) I am severely wondering why somebody would even have the balls to wake me up and offer me a job when they don't even seem to have a client. Then the answer came to me, Recruitment Agents have to find clients themselves to sell their services to..Fair enough..The only way they can do that is if they have a portfolio filled with the resumes of people like me. My question would be; "Why call me offering me a job, instead of asking me wether they can use my CV, to roll in some clients and then plug me towards one of them?? I would have no problem with this, as it would be honest and it would perhaps indeed give me a chance to find a better job. If you look on the recruitmentsites on the Web you will find loads of adds asking for recruitment agents, wages upto $100k and cars and shit like that. Now, you can't possibly convince me that we need a million recruitment agents in the UK! There aren't even that many jobs over here! I guess they just ran out of secondhandcars to sell and therefor everybody that is unemployed can now start up a recruitment agency...WHO THE HELL THOUGHT OF THIS? And why won't they leave me alone? To all recruitment people reading this. (I suppose you have to have something to do all day so why not surf the web) I know my current job sucks..I have done all I can, I had to build a better Team and it works..so now I am bored..The company has nothing left to offer me so it's time to move on..but please please make sure that before you call me you actually have a job! Otherwise I refuse to listen to you when you atlk to me next time...and I am the person that you can and want to sell to your clients..Whenever I have been on a face to face interview people have offered me positions...Ussually I have taken them, and sometimes I say no but they will see me and want me to work for them...Do yourself a favour and just be honest next time..then and only then will I listen! Alternatively just send me a mail [email protected]..I always read them no matter how full of shit they are..and ussually I even respond in a pollite way. You would do me and yourself a big favour! |
