Introduction

The New Zealand Lapband Support Group is a virtual support network established to help Lapbanders (people who have, or are considering, an Adjustable Gastric Band (AGB)) from around New Zealand share information and make contact with one another.

This website contains an overview of the Adjustable Gastric Band and how it works, answers to a wide range of Frequently Asked Questions, links to relevant websites, essential tips for living with a LAP-BAND compiled by people who are doing just that and profiles of several NZ Lapbanders.

The site also provides information on how to make contact with other Lapbanders, both in your area and the rest of the country, through local support groups, a discussion list and regular 'chat' sessions.

Although every effort has been taken to ensure the information is accurate it cannot replace the advice and support of your surgeon, dietician and psychologist. You should continue to seek their guidance in the first instance.

LAP-BAND is a registered trademark of BioEnterics Corporation and refers to that company's Adjustable Gastric Banding (AGB) System. In the context of this website, the term Lapband, and Lapbander, are used generically to refer to people who have an Adjustable Gastric Band (AGB) which may be either BioEnteric's LAP-BAND system or Obtech Medical's Swedish Adjustable Gastric Band (SAGB).
