Man: Hmm. It’s 12:15. You just missed it. You can take the subway around the corner. Get off at 5th Avenue.
Visitor: 5th Avenue. OK. Then what?
Man: Go north on 5th for two blocks. You’ll see a railroad crossing. Cross the tracks, turn left, and the museum is straight ahead.
Visitor: OK. Let me make sure I understand: up 5th, over the railroad crossing, turn left. Thanks a lot!
Man: You’re welcome. Enjoy the museum!
Parts of a Car and Car Maintenance
Does an auto mechanic or technician need much training?
It depends on what kind of work you want to do. A service attendant helps a customer when their car needs gas or oil or the tires need air. He doesn’t have any special training. He learns on the job.
An auto technician who repairs parts of your car, like the brakes or radiator, needs lots of training. For some jobs like a smog check, the technician must pass a test and get a certificate.
Every time there’s a new car, a technician has to learn how to repair that car. A lot of reading and training is necessary in this job. The need for training never ends.

Pineville Opens New Subway
A Rapid Transit subway from the West Side to the airport was opened Sunday by Pineville mayor, Felicia Jones. RT now includes bus and ferry lines, local trains, and the new extended subway.
Carl Blane, a West Side resident, was excited about the system. He said, “This is great! Now I can travel to the city center with only one transfer. And no more expensive taxis to the airport!”
Mayor Jones told the audience, “Public transportation is the best way to reduce air pollution.”
