Dissection 是一隊極著名的瑞典 Black/Death Metal 樂隊，可算是 Black/Death Metal 的始祖，於1989 由靈魂人物主音/結他 Jon Nodtveidt 組成，但其他位置就曾有所變動。雖然 Dissection 在音樂上跟 At The Gates，Dark Tranquillity，In Flames 有分別，但不少人仍將 Dissection 的地位與他們平排，所以 Dissection 在瑞典的 Gothenburg Sound Band Scene 佔了一個極重要的地位 ！可惜的是，主音/結他 Jon Nodtveidt 於1997年殺了一個阿爾及利亞的基佬（抵死！），被判入獄 8 年，  而 Dissection 亦迫於無奈於 Jon 入獄後散 band。Dissection 在八年期間只灌錄了兩張正式的殿堂級大碟 - Somberlain 同埋 Storm of The Light's bane - 其他的作品好似 The Past Is Alive 都是一些演場表演的作品。據問  Jon Nodtveidt 被判入獄後在獄中仍有寫歌，出獄後推出 melodic death metal 作品 Reinkaos, 但劣評如潮 ......而 Jon Nodtveidt 在 2006 年八月就在人生高峰時自殺身亡.

The Somberlain (1993) & Storm of The Light's Bane (1995)

Dissection 音樂的風格可算是極為獨特，基本上，他們在這兩張大碟所玩奏的音樂都是充滿了 Black Metal 的邪惡氣氛，唱腔都是用了極冷酷的黑腔，而歌詞帶出的意識都是跟 Black Metal 有關，但他們音樂的元素亦有 Death Metal 及 Thrash Metal 的成份。要評價Dissection 的作品，其實沒有太多話可說，因為他們的音樂實在是太正，太精彩，每樣樂器都配搭得甚佳，亦有瘋狂的 Double Bass，但樂隊沒有利用任何 Keyboard。在一片瘋狂及邪惡的氣氛下，他們歌曲那優美的旋律卻毫不受損，極之動聽！這兩張大碟有一些古典結他演奏，極有味道，當聽眾聽著那些瘋狂歌曲，這些古典結他演奏就可為他們暫時舒緩神經緊張。令本人欣賞 Dissection 的地方可算是那變化多端，爽快，快速，及極誘人的結他 riff，充滿壓迫感，令我聽得入神。另一個令我欣賞 Dissection 的地方就是他們音樂的速度及節奏變化多，唔會話一味死快，而較慢的部份亦很自然地做出一種邪惡的氣氛。要比較兩張大碟，有人說 The Stomberlain 比較"恆"，而 Storm of The Light's Bane 的變化就較多，旋律亦比較正。我個人就比較欣賞 Storm of The Light's Bane，因為我極鐘意的那首 Unhallowed 是在這張大碟！而歌曲好像 Where Dead Angel Lie 亦是 Dissection 的經典作，但怎樣也好，這兩張殿堂級作品都是要一聽的！
