Chapter One: Enter The Humanoid Typhoon

Vash walked off into the horizon with Knives slung over his shoulder. His battle with his brother was over. He had been victorious. He was deep in his thoughts as he tossed his red coat behind him. He walked for a long while, when finally, he came upon a city. The words 'Octember City' was painted on a sign that hung from the gateway to the small place. He smiled... this was good enough for him.

A couple people stared at him while he walked to the nearest hotel. He looked rather strange... a grown man carrying another grown man over his shoulder. He went through the door to a lobby full of staring on-lookers as he approached the pleasant, heavy-set man behind the desk.
"Good evening, and welcome to the Jolly Pumpkin Inn! What can I do you for?" The man behind the desk was beaming at Vash, and he beamed right back.
"Hi there! Gee, it's so nice to see friendly faces for once! I'd like a room please, two beds, and close to the dining room, if you don't mind!"
"No problem, Mr... Mr., eh...?"
"Vash."
"Ah, you poor man! Got the name o' that notorious gunslinger!"
Vash chuckled nervously. "Yeah, poor little me! Uh, but look, I'm really tired and reeeaaallly hungry, so can I get to my room, please?"
"Of course. Lannah will show you to it." The man turned his head and shouted, "Eh, Lannah!!! Get your keister out here, we got ourselves a patron!"
"Coming!", a female voice called from the dining room.

Vash turned his head to see, and a woman, maybe 5'6", long, strawberry blonde hair that went a ways down her back, and quite the curvacious figure stepped out from the hall. She was smiling, bright hazel eyes that had at least three different colors looking warmly at Vash. Surprisingly, instead of a dress, she was dressed in long pants and a t-shirt... dresses were obviously not this woman's style. She looked to be around twenty, and her hair swayed back and forth when she walked. Her face had light freckles along her cheeks, just under her eyes, and a birthmark mole over her right eyebrow. She made a motion for Vash to come over, pretending not to notice the dropped jaw and wide eyes. 'As long as he doesn't start drooling, we'll get along just fine...', Lannah thought. "Step right this way, please!" She turned down another hallway, and Vash quickly followed, obviously thrilled by the sight of this woman.
'Oh boy oh boy oh boy, a pretty girl!', he thought as he stared at her from behind, hurrying along.

She stopped outside a door- 314. She handed him a key, a broad smile still plastered to her face. "Here's your room, I hope you enjoy your stay! Is there anything else I can get for you, sir?"
Vash slipped the key into the lock, opened the door and took a look around. "Everything looks good here! Say, do you know anywhere I could get some doughnuts? Some good ones?"
"Weeeellll...", Lannah said, tapping her chin as she thought. "There's a pastry shop not too far down Juniper Street... but, uh..." She leaned over to him and began to speak in whispers. "Wanna know a secret?"
Vash leaned down to her and whispered as well. "What?"
"The best doughnuts... in all of Octember... are right here.. in the dining hall."
"Well," he whispered back to her, "would you be able to bring me some?", he asked.
She giggled and said, still in whispers, "No, silly. You need to come to the dining hall like everyone else does."
"Oh."
She smiled and stood up straight. "Well, I'll be waiting for you, then! Bye for now!"
As she was about to leave, Vash took off his yellow glasses to reveal those beautiful blue green eyes. He waved with a smile as he called behind her, "Okay, sounds great! I'll see you there, Miss Lannah!"

She heard the door shut behind him, then sighed dreamily. "Ohhhhh, he was so cuuuuute!!! I sure hope he likes my doughnuts..."
