A company that enables people and businesses throughout the world to realize their full potential
entry date: 3 December 2006
As a two(2) month sabatical from the Learning & Development Profession, I tried & tested the waters if I can ever go back to an Engineering or Project Management role for one of the Wireless@SG Operators. And I did, and I enjoyed it too, I even spent weekends working since I really love the challenge. But still something was a amiss, I realized what it was, when I ended up motivating/coaching two of my colleagues and training the sales team.
The decision to join Microsoft, was not an easy one, albeit the cheers from my friends & relatives. It took a lot of soul searching for me as well. But when I saw the company's mission for being " To enable people and businesses throughout the world to realize their full potential", there was a quickening. Then when I was interviewed by Brett Frazer, I knew that this organization is being led by someone who walks the talk.
The decision to hire me as Training Program Manager was made in October 2006 and I joined Microsoft Asia Pacific Operations last November 20, 2006. This is 2 days before my birthday, and so I thought this is one of the greatest birthday gifts I ever received. I have met my new direct manager Danielle Massey, who is based in Shanghai, in a Quarterly Business Review Meeting in Singapore.
From the vantage point of a bird perched on the shoulders of giants, I am now ready to fly again and learn and share with a new group of people, in a different pie in the sky. (with a view of the Singapore Esplanade too!) :)

A glimpse of the not so distant past
Lanie is one of those self-made IT career fast-trackers (six years isn't exactly fast track...mind you)who basically came
from an under priveleged family. She earned her Bachelor's degree
in Electronics and Communications Engineering in Mapua Institute of
Technology , while working as a part-time student to augment her
meagre allowance. A few months after her graduation, she passed the
Government's Licensure Examinations for Electronics and
Communications Engineers, which paved the way for her career in NESIC Philippines, Incorporated . Driven by her
ambition to grow with the telecommunications industry as it goes
toward data networking while taking advantage of the Project
Management skills she learned from her previous job, she pioneered
the creation of the Project Management team for Trends and
Technologies, Incorporated , which is a Nortel
Networks' Gold Partner. Not content on her laurels, she
subsequently strengthened her technical skills by involving herself
in large LAN/WAN projects as well as PABX projects.
She then
became a Network Controller in AT&T Solutions
Singapore, a global Cisco Partner and leading supplier of data and
Internet services for businesses and offers outsourcing, consulting
and networking-integration to large businesses, specifically in the
Asia Pacific including Australia .
She was part of a team
dedicated to network monitoring, providing remote support,
configuration and problem solving of LAN's (Ethernet,Fast Ethernet,
Gigabit Ethernet, FDDI, Token Ring) and WAN's (X.25/X.28,SDLC&
Direct access, Frame Relay, ATM & ISDN, VoFR, VoIP,TCP/IP,
