NIGER-CONGO is spoken primarily in the Central, Southern and Southeastern parts of Africa. There are over 900 different languages in this language family, including Swahili, Zulu, Yoruba, Ewe, Ibo, Malinke, Mende, Twi, Kongo, Sotho, Swazi, Lingala, Bemba. One of the languages, Shona, has over 200 words for walking: Mbwembwer - walking with buttocks shaking, Chakwair - walk squelchily through mud, Donzv - walk with a stick, Pahn - walk a long way, Rauk - walk with long steps, and the list goes on. |
