Lang is short for Langolier, my usual internet identity. The Langoliers is a creation of Stephen King with which I tend to identify in certain aspects of my Internet existence. Friends and family tend to perfer my given name, Melissa (or Mel works just as nicely). I am a 20-something living and working in the Chicago area, my lifelong home.
I'm a native south sider living in the northwest burbs for ease of transportation to work. Proof that I'm not yet a suburbanite: I actually miss public transportation. Granted I don't miss parking space wars in the winter or the walk home from the El, but city life was great for me. |

As reflected by another subject heading within this site, I have a keen interest in IRC - Internet Relay Chat. I've been a regular participant in #Newbies on Undernet since 1996 and a channel operator since 1997. More than a way to make a contribution to the greater online community by offering free tech support for IRC, many long-term friendships have started in #Newbies.
I work as a financial applications consultant small company, primarily working with and supporting high end accounting software. When not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two cats and our tight circle of friends. I'm also a student pursuing a B.S. in an area to be determined. I think I'm going to be a sophomore forever. When I'm not doing all of that, I IRC or sleep...whichever seems more important at the time.
