| October 4, 2004 - Question: How many grade 6 pupils does it take to play a computer game? Answer: See picture left. I have spent a significant amout of time searching the internet for educational software and games that will run on our older computers. I learned that older 486 computers can be great educational tools for children. Getting the right software is the trick. With the right software, our computers are plenty powerful enough to provide a good learning experience. We can play Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego and some math games. Look at all the girls using computers! |

| Like any teacher, I wonder if what I am doing will make a difference in my student's lives. I received a text message from my old friend Catherine, now an honor student at Philippine Science High School. (if you remember her story, she was admitted from the waiting list) She told me about her assignment to write about one person who had influenced their life. She said she wrote about me! She must be joking, so I told her I wrote about her all the time. Her reply surprised me, "i read ur web page several tymes and i even stealed some pictures and set them as wallpapers." Really? I did not know she could do that. | ||||||||

| Catherine is the kind of student that teachers live for and who probably keep them going after many years in what can be a difficult profession. That little story should help me get through another 6 months. | ||||||||
