April 5, 2004 - Graduation for the 6th graders of Cassidy Elementary School was a nice event. It started with a "Candles and Roses ceremony." The 6th graders gave the 5th graders candles to "carry the tradition" of Cassidy Elem School and the 5th graders gave the 6th graders roses as a remembrance of their time at Cassidy. Nice symbology. It was fun to meet the parents of my students. I guess kids have talked about me. They must say it is me who keeps them playing after school and making them late to go home.
For graduation, I decided to be a photographer for the event. My students love photographs, mostly of themselves. On this page are a few photos I took and gave to my students. Children always remind me to give them a gift. They were quite pleased with their pictures.

I will miss my friends very much. They were the first students I had here and they taught me a lot. They have also been my protectors. When we play soccer sometimes other children will attempt to disrupt the game. Sometimes they might ask for money. My little friends, like patronuses, will circle around and protect me. "No! Kuya Lane does not have money," they will shout. They will shoo them away. If I were a wizard, I think my patronus would be a little 6th grade girl.

When we finish playing, everyone is pretty beat and thirsty.
I will offer to buy ice water Most of the time, the response is "no, Kuya Lane, you put your money away." They will protect me from people who assume I have money. Then they will not want me to spend on them. See why I like these kids?
For now, the graduates are still little girls and boys and some choose to visit me at home still. I'm hoping they will continue to do so over the summer. I tried to get them to help me with my language studies, but they are not so helpful. They break out in laughter whatever they hear me speak. Not very encouraging.
